I have occasional bought ground green tripe and fed it to my dogs, they seem to quite like it and it didn't seem to smell too bad. So last week I decided I would order a whole tripe and grind it up myself. I went and picked it up yesterday. I've never done such a disgusting job in my life. It just reeked and the whole house stunk. I couldn't believe how hard it was to cut up. It wasn't too hard to grind up. It was actually easier than chicken backs. I only did about 2/3 or it. I couldn't make myself do any more. I packed it up 1lb bags and I now have about 30 pounds in the freezer. I couldn't make myslef do anymore. I hope my dogs appreciate it. :)

Hi Jan, Good for you!!! I'm sure your dogs do appreciate it. Sounds like you do alot for them. How do you grind it? Do you use a meat grinder?

On another topic are you able to PM me your chicken contact? I am trying to get Luke some organic chicken thats not too expensive. I read somewhere that you use someone who is quite reasonable.

Thanks!

Jennifer

I have a Moulinex Grinder. I really don't use it very often as I think that grinding defeats the purpose of feeding raw. But there is no way that they are eating Tripe on the carpet. They actually eat on a towel, but they do pull it off sometimes and there is no way that I want that on the carpet. Tara might eat it outside, but Markus won't. He won't even lie down on the tile.

I don't know if I will ever convince myself to do it again. Maybe if I got myself a decent pair of poultry shear and I had some help. I had hoped to be able to do it outside, but you know what the weather was like yesterday.:(

Jennifer I will PM you the chicken place. It's not organic though. :(
