Boxer Pal
my little gentleman and he really is ... can sit, paw ,stay (for at least 2minutes) and understand no comes when called (even outside in midst of play) And i'm not the only one he listens to my daughter can pull all this with him except come while playin and the same with my girlfriend. but i can not engage him into laying down. i've even tried giving him a treat or two when i know he is going to plop his body down to rest and encourage "lay down" but nothing tips pointers anything i feel like his instinct is to sit and watch but sometime i wish he would be comfortable layin down in the other room when i get out of the shower so my legs aren't kissed . ... by the way he is only 14 weeks any help for my docked and floppy fella?

Completely Boxer Crazy
Suki doesn't like it much either, but she will do it for the right motivation -- usually hot dogs or chicken. What we do/did....in the beginning, we did the motion -- hand flat, treat tucked under thumb, tease pup over the nose, direct hand towards the floor while nose follows the treat into the perfect lay down position. Yeah, right. So we eventually had to do the manual lay down. I, as gently as possible, positioned her in a down, and praised her with treat after treat after treat until she would maintain it. Once she figured that part out, now she will down for me easily, as long as I have a treat. She'll even down-stay. :) But it took about two weeks.

Boxer Insane
down & settle

they way i tought sam - ( not sure if it will work for u , but i will share ) i use hand and voice ( dont want to call into another room if needed ( new baby in the house )

i would have treat shown ( high value ) have him sit - and wait - he would be staring and drooling ... then i would slowly move the treat down to the floor - he would move with it ( very funny to watch ) the trick to this trick - is go slowly ( build up anticipation ) and when he is on the floor repeat the " down " or what ever word use .. after sam caught on to this . i would put him in a down . usually just by the hand signal , put the treat on the floor - give the wait command - and when he relaxed . i said " settle " so now we( sit - down - settle ) mind u we are about 99 % on this one on first command - but 100 % he will do all but " settle " if i use my " time out " voice ( the do it or else )

it really only took about 3 sessions of 10 - 15 mins - before he really knew what i wanted - about a mo - to agree he had to do it !! lol

but it was fun ~ just keep at it !!
