Boxer Insane
Hi,

Ginty my seven year old brindle (female) has developed three greasy patches on her back, the fur has fallen out on these areas, they are about the size of a five pence coin. When I stroke her she flinches as if the area is sensitive, they look like phoriosis (I dont think I have spelt that correctly) the bald patches are quite greasy and the skin scaly. Can anyone help?????

Thanks Pammyjean and Ginty sleepicon

This sounds like yeast. Are her ears cropped? Either way
it usually starts in the ear,so you should smell them.
Its pretty easy to treat but can be expensive. The first
thing I would do is clean her ear with a mixture of
50% water an vineager every other day there is a excellent
shampoo out there by vet solutions called universal shampoo
If you take her to the vet there is a prescribtion drug
called ketoconizole but its about 3$ a pill. She can
re-infect her self through her bedding and enviroment so
wash all her bedding regularly and clean your house with
lysol products, bleach does not work. And also alot of
vets miss diagnose this so the actual name for it is
I hope this is spelled right malessia pachydermatitis
Good luck on treating it takes a few weeks to dry up
