Gracie eating her poop...help!

Help!!! My 10 week old is eating her dried up poop. She has been doing it since I got her and she won't stop. I've tried detering her and even picking up her poop but there is always one I miss and she finds it. Does anyone have any suggestions or reasons why she is doing this?

Don't feel bad, my 5 1/2 month old does the same thing. She is on a high quality kibble, gets treats, and still feels the need to scavenge the yard for it. With two boxers it's getting difficult to keep the yard clear of it. I was waiting to see if she would hopefully out grow it! Wish I had some advice to give you, but it sounds like your doing all the right things!

samson is 9 months old. he eats a raw diet and gets treats but still looks for poo. I have caught him right under mattie to clean up.:LOL: I can't get over there fast enough. I just don't understand. but that's my boy.:)

Well, I am glad it's not just my Gracie doing this....I've never had a problem with my boxers eating their poop. She is on an excellent diet and still goes for it....I guess it's like chocolate for her :) I am really hoping she eventually grows out of it. With two dogs it's really hard to keep her from it....the good thing is that she will only eat her own....she stays clear of our blue heeler's land mines...hahaha....I really appreciate the replies...thank you!

Guinness fortunately doesn't have this problem (usually, it has happened once or twice though). I have heard that you can add pineapple or zucchini to their food and it makes their poop unappetizing (Stange to think that you need to add something for that to happen). There is also stuff that I think you can buy at a pet store. Try doing some searches on the site for this though, I know there are a few threads about it.

Oscar did that for a while. But thankfully I think he has grown out of it. For the longest time his nickname was Mister Mister Poopie Eater, now it is Mister Wag A Lot. I hope it sticks because it just may be that he is distracted by all the leaves, sticks and bugs he can chew on now that is warm. And I am afraid he will start treating himself to poop popsicles once it is cold out again. I know there is something you can put in his food that you get from the vet. But for now I am just keeping it clean (hard with 2 dogs) and hoping he grew out of it.

I forgot to mention earlier that sometimes eating their poop can be a sign of them missing something in their diet? What are you feeding them? Try doing a search on quality kibble on the site and see if yours is on the list or if it isn't, see if there is one that is on the list that you can get around you.

My Emma used to do this also. Jazper I have never seen him do it. Emma doesnot do this anymore. I think maybe she has grown out of that stage. I have heard about it being because they are missing something in there diet. Like it was mentioned before ask the vet. They can give you a supplement to put on the food. I also dont really give them a chance. I go out and do poop patrol atleat once a day. Good luck!
