We said goodbye to one of our babies last night. We had been having trouble with our littlest girl puppy - she wasn't putting on weight and she was struggling with her motor skills. We took her to the vet and were told that she was just not getting enough food and to give her first round at mum at feeding time. We did this and more - started her on bottles and solids at 3 weeks of age.

She did start to improve and things were looking up. She gained 500 grams in her first week on the supplemented food and was looking like a healthy little boxer puppy. I had named her Sugar because she was such a little sweetheart and I loved her so much.

Saturday night she had a seizure and didn't come out of it very well. She had damaged her little brain and couldn't even get up on her feet without falling over or running into stuff. We waited until last night to see if she would pick up but she didn't so we decided that it would be best to send her to the bridge. I think that is the hardest decision I will EVER have to make.

At least now I know she will be in good company with the many other dogs here from Boxerworld that are there with her.

I just wanted to say goodbye my little sweetheart. Mummy will always be thinking of you.

I Am So Sorry

I would like to pass on my condolences to you in the loss of your little girl puppy. It sounds like you gave it the good old college try to do the best for her and help her come along, but sometimes even our strongest efforts just are not enough. Yes, it is a comfort knowing other Boxerworld Boxers are at the bridge with each other.
I heard a phrase the other day that may help put some ease to your pain. It was said by a little 10 yr old child who had lost their family pet at a young age. This child put it so well into perspective:

"They say you have to learn goodness before God calls you to Heaven. That is why humans have to endure so many years on earth before they are called. But puppies are born good, and they only improve, so that is why their time with us here on earth is so short"

How true!
