Our friends have two pitbull puppies (12 weeks) and we would like it if our boxer puppy would be able to get along with them. However, we are concerned about the pitbulls because we know that they can be aggressive. Should we allow them to play together even though the two pits play with each other kind of rough? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I would say it is a safe bet to let them play together
as long as they all are up to date on their shots.
It would be a good experience and a chance to socialize
you puppy. Also if you are real good friends with
these people and will be seeing them and their
dogs alot I would recommend it even more so. Considerig
if the dogs grow up together and know each other well
they will much less likely to get into it when they
are older. You wouldn't want your dog to accidently
run into these pits when they are older and have
never met your dog before. But if they were around
all the time then it would be no big deal your boxer
would just be part of the "family". Good Luck.

Maggie has been playing with a Pit puppy, a month older than she for months now in the park. I know "Juno's" owners and Juno is a very well behaved, obedient little dog. Sweet as she can be. Maggie and Juno have wonderful times together wrestling and chasing balls and each other. There have been no problems between them at all.

I'm very cautious about letting Maggie play with Pits. But I am very glad she has Juno as a friend and they are well socialized together. But unless I know the dog and the owners, I usually avoid letting Maggie play with other Pits in the park.

I'd say yes, definitely let them play (very well supervised however) and hopefully they will become good friends like Maggie and Juno and you won't have any worries at all.

Good luck.

depends on the pits...

if they're your friend's pits, i would say go for it.
pit bulls have a rep. that is a little unfair. they're stubborn, smart, and don't back down -- just like boxers. but they're also incredibly devoted to their owners when they're raised by loving people and can be fabulous dogs. (my boxer is on an aggressiveness jag and just attacked and knocked over my friend's pit bull and then stood on her until we could get her off -- not all pits are aggressive.)
don't worry about the breed. enjoy the opportunity to socialize your dog with some younguns.

As long as you know the dogs I don't think it would be a problem. Sydney plays with a pit at the park and I must say that he usually behaves much better than she does. He is a very submissive dog and I have never seen him get into any trouble. Sydney on the other hand...well that's a differnt posting.

Go for it!! It will be good for the pit puppies to socialize at this early age also. Remember to make sure that they are up to date on their vaccines. Rocky has a pit bull playmate. They play together great!! Have Fun!!
