I am sorry to hear about your loss. Can you please explain the sour milk thing though?? How did they get ahold of sour milk?? Is that something that happens to the Momma???

Probably mastitis. It is an infection from the mother (much the same as when humans get it) and should be caught early to avoid problems with the puppies and possible death of the mother. The teats can actually explode from the pressure and infection.
