We are going to adopt a 5 year old Golden Retriever and have a 16 month old female Boxer. Any one else have a mix of these two. The have met and of course liked eachother, but I would like to hear of others that night have some good stories to tell.

Thanks.

Since they liked each other when they first met is a good sign. Is the Golden a male or female? Alot of times, but not all, females tend to fight more often.
Congrats! I used to own a female Golden. She was a good girl (friendly)but very destructive.

My late best friend had a beautiful golden named Clover, she was a very sweet and loving girl :) She "disappeared" after Becca was killed in a car accident, I honestly think her father gave Clover away because she reminded him too much of Becca :(

Yes, we just added a Golden Retriever to our family a little over a week ago. She is ten months old and was badly abused by her former owner. She is fitting in nicely although she is still a little skiddish. She has bonded with our Brittany and our five month old Boxer. We love her and never for one moment have been sorry we added her to "the pack" as DH calls them. lovicon

We have a 9yo golden.. He has been an absolute joy! He never really chewed anything, was a dream to housetrain and has nothing but a heart of pure gold.. Lots of extra "dustbunnies" under the couch and in the corners but that would have to be his only bad trait.. He cant be outpetted..we've tried. He is our alpha of the pack..always has been and is a wonderful teacher to the other dogs in the house. His worst trait was when we first got him he was a Houdini and would steal from the neighbors..shoes but never 2 at a time, flower pots, rugs, a doll baby, Christmas lawn ornaments..most of the stuff we never knew where it came from..we had to quickly dog proof the home and the yard..hence his name Oliver Twist..

I have a soon to be 6 yr old golden ret. named Buddy. I adoped him 3.5 yrs ago. He and LC play well together, but aren't best of friends. I get the feeling that they tolerate each other and play together simply because thats whos available.
Otherwise they're both fine together. Having Buddy has stopped LC from jumping the fence, so thats another good thing.

When I got Ali at 8 months, I had an 8 month old Golden Retriever (Disco). I was very worried that I would have way too much "puppy energy" on my hands, but the two of them balanced each other out very nicely. That was, until they both came into season at the same time. Then, there was double the trouble and they both chewed up my favorite pair of pink high heels.

Ali was a great playmate for Disco and taught her a thing or two about playing. Disco just about flipped out of her mind when Ali first started to box with her. After a few times, Disco started to figure out that Ali was playing, so she started to do it too.

Disco was soft dog and pretty much let Ali do whatever she wanted. Ali jumped over her and under her, tugged on all of her extra hair, but at the end of the night, they would both snuggle up next to one another and dream the night away.

My hair stylist has a 1yr female golden retriever and a 7-8yr old Chihuaha (sp?), oddly enough for the size difference they are very good friends. If your first meeting went well then hopefully that's a good sign. I always thought Golden's looked like happy, friendly dogs in general.

One of Norton's best dog friends during his last two years was a male G.Ret named Jake, who was about 4 years younger than him--they got along great, he also loved a very rambunctious yellow lab puppy and managed to love her completely through her first year and a half of crazy labrador puppyhood! LOL
