I've been there...

As a B-day gift I turned 21 in Vegas. There is lots to do for everyone's interests. The Rainforest Cafe @ the MGM Grand is an interesting dining experience with indoor thunderstorm's and all. For a cheap breakfast, homestyle, I recommend Gold Coast. Entertainment in Vegas can be pricey, especially for last minute tickets. There are awesome shows that take place every night on "The Strip" and are free. These shows take place outside the Hotels & Casinos(the light show on Freemont, the pirate ships at Treasure Island, the dragon slayer at the Excaliber, the white lions inside MGM Grand, the dancing fountains at the Belagio, and inside Ceasar's they have talking statues). Hopefully this helps you out! I can't wait to go back, its been four-years and we hope to go next spring!

Sincerely,

Kelly

I am so envious! I've been to vegas 2 times (both before I was 21). It's my favorite place I've ever been. Be sure to go to the shops at Caesar's Palace. We went to a King Arthur's Court performance at the Excalibur that was a blast! I don't think you can go to vegas and not have fun, so I'm sure you'll find some great stuff to do.

Hi Leah -

I love Vegas - where are you staying?

I don't have any night club suggestions, but I have lots of restaurant suggestions! A few places I like:

Postrio (Wolfgang Puck "New American" restaurant in the Venetian)
Prime (Steakhouse in Bellagio, chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten)
Delmonico Steakhouse (Emeril Lagasse Restaurant in the Venetian)
Picasso (a Spanish-influenced New French Restaurant in the Bellagio, chef Julian Serrano)

As for more casual dining, the Bellagio Buffet is great (I'm usually not a fan of Buffets -- but this place is very nice!). In-N-Out Burger actually gets the highest food ranking, (a whopping 28) by Zagat.

Have fun! I'll be there for a long weekend over the 4th of July :D

Just got back from Vegas!

I just returned a week ago, it was my first visit also. My husband had a convention for a few days and some friends also went to hang out. We stayed 5 nights and it was great. Some advice: a lot of cool places are closed on or offer something different Mon, Tues and Wed. Check out what's going on that night in a club before you pay a $10 cover charge. The Ghostbar is not so cool on Tuesdays :) New York New York has some cheap places to grab lunch and breakfast, the roller coaster is fun, but really jerky, you might not want the all day ride pass. Check out the cheap 5 t-shirts for $10 places on the strip for souvenirs - they have a lot of stuff from the casinos. The Steakhouse at Circus Circus is awesome, and reasonable because side dishes actually come with the steak: My petite filet came with a salad, potatoe and asparagus and was about $30-$35. As mentioned, the fountain show at Bellagio is amazing. Get to the pirate show at Treasure Island early, it's kind of lame, but you'll be singing that goofy song for weeks! Taxis can only pick you up in front of hotels, and the hotels are farther apart than they look. Don't miss going in the Luxor, it's really neat inside, and they have Imax movie theaters and some neat shops. The monorail is not as convenient as they advertise, you still have a lot of walking to get to and from it, 5 people can fit in a taxi. Don't miss the Venetian, it is surreal inside, and Paris is a fun walk. The Mirage is nicer than I thought inside, If you want to see 6 dolphins and an elephant and a couple of tigers, then pay the $12 for Siegfried and Roy's Secret Garden. Not that great, but okay. Kahunaville In Treasure Island is a dueling Piano Bar, it's fun, they give out free tequila shots sometimes, just be sure to ask the pianomen if they know a song before you tip them to play a request - it felt like I was playing "Stump the Band". Just walk around and see it all. Oh, and when getting poolside drinks at the Bellagio, don't be surprised when the bill is $24 for two drinks! Have Fun!

We will be staying at Ny NY...It's actually my 3rd time there, the other couples are new to LV. So I know about most of the casino shows but honestly I like to pool lounge when I'm anywhere warm...product of Chicago winters!!! I wasn't sure about the restaurants, I heard there's a good Mexican one, but not sure where. We were hoping to see KA but heard it's not great, "O" was good but we want to see a different cirque show. Thanks for all you help!!! If anyone has other suggestions TIA!

We saw Cirque's "Mystere" at Treasure Island. We had wonderful seats, second row from the stage, in the center. The performers would jump on the rails and be 3 feet from us. If you like these shows, I guess it's good. It's the first one I've seen, so I can't compare it to anything. They are all just so amazingly strong and agile. We also saw the Blue Man Group. It was fun and weird. I don't know that it's really a show everyone will like. It definately had stuff you've never seen before. Audience participation really helps liven it up. Our audience was so-so.
