Giving Our Children Baths!!!!!

I have a question as to how you give them baths, how often, what shampoo do you use? I use to just hose her off outside during the summer cause it could get to be over a hundred here and I am not sure how to go about it in the winter. All the other dogs I have had (when I was younger) only got baths in the summer outside. Do your boxers like baths???

I'd have to say that cinda gets a bath when she needs it, not when she wants it. She wouldn't ever have one if it was left up to her! This summer I bought a paddling pool for my grandson when we looked after him for a week. I left it up for the dogs as the weather has been very hot here. I used it last week to first bathe Zak then Cinda as the water was lovely and warm after a hot day in the sun.
During the winter, stand up baths are the thing with my dogs more than a full dunk in the bathtub. Because of where we take them for runs (in long grass and through lots of mud) a stand up wash with warm water in a bowl and cloths and towels is how we get through the colder months. they love that much more than the full baths because of all the rubbing and towelling.

madie gets a bath about 1 time a month she has a skn thing going on scout when ever needed and i give them baths in my tub they don't seem to mind it much shampoo is a all nateral called best buddy wash its a lavender very nive smelling.................................

Gus gets lots of baths!

We bathe Gus about once a week and he loves his baths, but he's been getting them all his life, so he doesn't know any different. We bathe him with bark n bath dog shampoo (www.barknbath.com); their products are all natural and human grade. We then condition him with head and shoulders condiitioner and he always looks and smells great When we bathe him we always make it fun time with treats and "talk happy" to him while we are in the tub - he gives us kisses the whole time! We bathe him in our bathtub which has doors (our house is old) that come in quite handy. Now when we shower, we have to leave the door cracked so Gus can come in to play with us if he wishes; he'll whine if we shut the doors all they way!

My husband has a bad case of allergies affected by animal dander in case anyone out there is wandering why little Gus is visiting the bath tub so often.

They don't need baths very often, I give Isabelle a bath once every 2 - 3 months, she keeps very clean and her coat doesn't get at all dry. I use a special dog shampoo on her and also put a little 'Mane & Tail' conditioner on afterwards. You should never use human shampoo & conditioner on them.

I seriously can't remember the last time I gave Gnarly a bath. He doesn't need one.... I have wiped him down from time to time, like after he has been laying in his sandpit. Gnarly just doesn't get dirty, and he smells like a dog whether he has been bathed or not. When I do bath him I just do it in our bathtub with dog shampoo and he is fine with it.

In the warmer months I bathe Titan outside in a plastic kiddie pool with an oatmeal shampoo. But he doesn't get many baths b/c he doesn't really get dirty. He's not a big fan of mud puddles or dirt- guess I"m lucky there. I use the doggy wet-wipe looking things to give him a quick bath before we go somewhere. They sell them at Petsmart and in some of the pet supply catalogs. Lot easier than going thru the hassle of a full bath (he hates water).
If it's raining outside I have to drag him off the porch to do his business then he just glares at the sky like "why does it have to make that cold, wet stuff and get me all dirty?"

I don't bathe mine unless they need it. Tyson loves having a bath as long as I let him drink out of the shower head Crash isn't too fond of them, but with enough treats and belly rubs, he stands perfectly still the whole time.

We give baths about every 3 weeks. Once we take out the shampoo, Nestle jumps in the tub. We gave Porter his first bath and he seemed to love it too. We use Four Paws Puppy Shampoo (light green bottle) from PetCo. We have been using it for 2 years with Nestle and have had no problems.

Diabla gets a bath when she start to smell "doggy". I use a non detergent shamppo I get from my vet. Last summer I was use a over the counter shampoo and Dee got fleas really bad. I give her fleas prevention meds every month and could not understand why she got fleas. My vet said that detergent shampoos can strip the coat of topical meds. I bath her in the tub and use a very soft nail brush when she is really dirty. She loves it. she will moan and groan the whole time.
