Getting pup used to lead.

Hi folks,
Have myself a gorgeous 7 week old brindle puppy,joined our home last friday.She's(Sadie) got used to her collar,I'm now using the lead but she keeps chewing it when I bring her out back,I'm just resorting to leaving it on her while she's in the house so she'll get used to it,will this work?? Any suggestions would be great.

I recommend two things which worked with our first boxer. We left the lead on in the house for quite some time and let him get used to it. Once he gets used to it in the house then pick up the lead in the house and let him lead you where ever he wants. If he struggles or pulls away or chews put the lead back down and come back and try again once he is calm again. Once that stops in the house move to the backyard and repeat. Then go for a short walk in the neighborhood. By that time you should be good.

In tandem with the above, you can buy some sour apple spray or something similar and spray it on the leash when he starts to chew it.
