Boxer Pal
my male pup is going on 9 months. he is fine around other boxers but when we take him around other breeds he tends to jump around and want to "box" them, the other dogs take this the wrong way and it ends up in a fight. also, my boxer is relentless, when we take him over a house with another dog he will not leave the dog alone. they play for 30 minutes or so but when the other dog is ready to be left alone or take a break, my boxer doesnt get the hint.

we have taken him to our local dog park a couple of times be he is all over the other dogs or a fight breaks out-we end up leaving because he can be a problem and the other dog owners arent too pleased. he just wants to play but he is simply too rough and excited.

what should i do?? a dog socialization class perhaps??

Boxer Insane
He is fine around other boxers as they are playing the same way as he is.
Plus the owners of other breeds of dogs may not understand the way that boxers play. He is still just a puppy anyway.

Class will help with socialization.

My Harley (at the time of this story was about 5 months) is the same way. Friends of ours have an Airdale Terrier - Jazz, and we like to get our dogs together to play and get to know each other. Well, they will play and chase each other around for a good half hour or 45 minutes, and then Jazz will get tired and want to lie down for a rest, but Harley doesn't let up. In fact, the last time we got together Harley nagged poor Jazz for HOURS (we were there at about 6 or 7pm and stayed until about 1:30 am). There were little bits of rest in between where we would break them up, and Harley would lie down for a minute or so, but then he would be right back at it. They went at it until about 1 in the morning or so, and only stopped because Harley finally pooped out and went to sleep. He loves to go for the other dogs mouths and was constantly going for Jazz's muzzle. Luckily there was no growling, as they have played together a couple of times and know each other. Of course Harley started out early and from the first day we brought him home (7 weeks) he didn't leave Jakey(my last boxer) alone. He would do the same thing to the point where you were constantly pulling him off of Jake, just so Jake could get some rest. - Just a TOTALLY annoying little brother.
Jakey used to annoy the neighbours dogs when he was a pup as well though, he would constantly harass them until he was growled at or nipped at. I remember feeling sorry for him, knowing he just wanted to play, and be friends, but was just getting growls and nipps.
I guess it's all part of the loving, playful Boxer personality.
