Boxer Pal
We have a female Boxer (Mia) who will be one next week. We recently adopted a male Great Dane who will be one in 2 weeks. Mia eats 3 cups of Blue Buffalo large breed daily. Brinks eats 7-8 cups of Eukanuba large breed daily. I have tried to switch them to TOTW very gradually and they both had severe diarrhea, especially Brinks.
I am looking for suggestions of something they may both do well on. I am afraid the calories in the Blue Buffalo may be too high for the Great Dane as it has over 500 calories a cup. The more I read, the more confused I get. Brinks needs to get off the Eukanuba. He was very malnourished as a puppy. He is going to be 130-140 lbs full grown and Mia is 60 lbs.

It's really just trial and error on foods, you also need to switch VERY slowly with some dogs. I have to take AT LEAST 7 days to switch my boy over, preferably 10. I know you said gradual but how gradual was gradual? There's many good foods on the market, but it may take you a couple to find the right combo for both of them. Also the calories in the food doesn't really have anything to do with anything except you'll probably feed less. So if the BB has over 500 calories per cup then you'd (more than likely) simply feed less of that food than you would say a food with 300 calories per cup. Calories and the breed of dog have nothing to do with each other.

Maybe try Wellness or Natural Balance or Chicken Soup, or there's quite a few good options. If you haven't I would encouargeyou to check out dogfoodanalysis.com and choose a 4, 5, or 6 star food from there.

Good luck!
