Ever since Murray was a baby he's been sleeping in bed with us. We have a king size bed so there's plenty of room and actually the three of us have become accustomed to sleeping together.

Lately, however, Murray has been getting up in the middle of the night and leaving the bed to sleep elsewhere. So far we've found him on the bed in our spare bedroom, on the couch, or nestled in what was his "baby" bed -- he curls up so he still fits!:)

The weird thing about it is how much me and my husband miss him!!! We keep trying to understand why he does it but can't seem to figure it out. At first he was doing it when my husband was at work (he works 24 hour shifts). I kind of thought he was "waiting" for him to come home. Now he started doing it with him home so I'm wondering -- are we disturbing him throughout the night??

Has anyone else experienced this? I guess I'm sad cause I love having him close to me.:(

You know, Cassius has been sleeping elsewhere too, I think in our case it has alot to do with the heat. Even though I can't help but take it personally when he doesn't want to sleep with me:rolleyes:

....we have a king size bed too so its me my husband and the 2 boxers all snug as a bug....i have noticed in the summer they sleep in the spare room, on the floor or on the couch but the winter months when its a little chilly the thought of getting out of the bed dosent even cross their minds!

Bailey does the same thing sometimes too!! I think it might be because the air conditioner is in the window and blows directly onto the bed. Think she might get just a little chilly!! But in the winter she never gets down!

I totally agree with the heat. We also have a king size bed, my husband, my 2yr old son, me, Tyson and Kyzar all sleep pretty comfy.:D I find in the summer Tyson will usually get out sometime during the night and go sleep in his bed on the floor in our room, and in the morning when alarms go off he jumps back in with us. Kyzar still can't jump in our bed so once he's in he does leave.

Finnega sleeps on our bed most night also and sometimes he will leave the bed in the middle of the night and its usually when its too warm for him.

So maybe it's the air conditioner......................didn't think of that! Guess I'll know for sure when winter comes and it's no longer on.

Can't believe how much I miss him in the middle of the night.:(

Mason always slept with me until he was about 12 months old. Suddenly he decided he'd rather sleep on the couch or on his bed. I just let him have his independence and, even though I missed him curled up next to my legs, decided it was probably good that he was fine on his own.

Then he started crawling back into bed at about 4am and snuggling. Now he's 16 months and seems to have decided that independence is overrated and he'd rather sleep with Mum!!

Once in a while though, he'll still sleep by himself - he's just so darn cute either way!!
