Get Tyson a sister?

DH and I have talked about getting a 2nd dog eventually, but we had planned on waiting until Tyson was a bit older. I found the cutest Boxer mix at the humane society. Her name is Shelly and she's 9 months old. I haven't had a chance to go and see her yet (I am calling as soon as they open today to see if she's still available and get more information about her).
DH is a little reluctant to get another dog already. Tyson is almost 4 months old. I know there are pros and cons to having 2 dogs. I've read multiple posts on this site about it. I just think Tyson would really enjoy having somebody to play w/ all of the time. I play w/ him as much as I can, but I can't play w/ him like a dog, you know? The poor thing has been trying to play w/ my oldest cat, and she's getting quite frustrated!
I'm going to be the one that spends the most time with the dogs, and I believe I would be able to handle both. It will be hard for training and such, but Tyson has the basics down and Shelly seems to know the basics from the description of her.
I understand it will be more expensive for food, toys, treats, another crate, vet bills (although she should have all her shots and be spayed already), etc. and I don't have a problem w/ that.
Any advice?

I think that if you really think that you can handle the resonsibility of 2 dogs I say go for it. My hubbie wasn't all that thrilled when I got our 2nd dog (a golden retriever) but since I'm the one that does the training, feeding, walking and everything else he got over it and loves having 2 of them. Being that both of them are somewhat trained already should help, I got my GR only 3 months after getting my boxer, training 2 puppies is challenging!!
Sometimes the right dog just shows up when your not expecting it so if Tyson and Shelly meet and they hit it off I say good for you for saving the life of a shelter dog. Lets us know how it turns out.

Maybe not meant to be. :( Shelly is cat and dog aggressive, so they won't even consider me. I wish they would have originally said that in the description.

I just got my second dog and thought I was ready. I love them both dearly and am getting used to the responsibility of two dogs. At first, I thought what was I thinking? Or what have I gotten myself into? It was hard, because I think Oscar was mad at me for bringing in this little yapper (he doesn't make any sounds). Anyway, as the days go by and I see them play better together it makes me feel more comfortable with my decision. I wish you all the luck in the world. I just wanted to share my anxieties. I thought I was totally prepared ( I had also forgotten about the responsibilities that come along with a puppy). I have to say though, that I wouldn't trade any of it..not the stress, or anxiety or any of it for the world. Having two has also made me appreciate how no one boxer is alike. I originally thought I would get someone with the same temperament as Oscar but I see now that they are each one in a million

We already had a 6 mos old Jack Russell (Daisy) when we got Keno...Daisy loved Keno from the moment he came into our home and I can honostly say that I'm sure Daisy and Keno would be lost without one another...they play together and they sleep together every night in their cage...Daisy is so much happier now that she has a play buddy ! So I say this--if you can take care of two puppies at once (afford the vet care,extra food it takes to feed two,and all the other expenses) then I say go for it !! Keno is five mos old now and I'm already feeling that puppy fever again!! If we had the room I would have atleast two boxers...but for now I guess having one boxer and a jack russell is enough (atleast until I can talk dh into adding on to our extra room off the kitchen.. )
