I do not have our boxer yet, but i like to plan ahead big time. So, I was going to ask you pros what you do with your babies while at work? I work from 8-4:30 and my wife will be a nurse, but she'll only be gone all day maybe once or twice a week. Any suggestions?? Thanks!

Both of our boys were crated while we were at work up until they reached about 2. There was no way they could be trusted to leave everything intact all day evilicon . Now that they have proven that they could be big boys we have put a baby gate up in the kitchen and they are free to have half of the house all day.

Our boys are either crated during the day or on cooler days they spend the day in the garage (we have windows that allow for ventalation). We could leave our older one our in the house without a problem but our 10month old has been known to be a trouble maker.

My husband and I never had any luck with the crate. No matter what we tried. But I would suggest trying it. Other people have all the luck. To be honest I think my problem is I am too soft. But with my male Bolo, my husband was fortunate to take him to work until he was about 5 months. With my female Sophie, we had to put her in the bathroom and my husband came home twice a day to check on her. I also agree with blocking him off in the kitchen. Good luck

My husband and I are both gone four days a week, for about 12 hours. We have a dogsitter/walker that comes over twice a day and stays for at least an hour each. It works out great, and Lily gets to take walks and have playtime while we are away.

Now that my two are older, 1-1/2 and 3-1/2, they hang out in the yard together. When they were younger, they sat in their crates for about 8 hours with a friend stopping over to let them out most of the days for about 15 minutes.

Jake is 1-1/2 and we still use the crate (he loves his crate!) If we're gone for more than 6 hours, he seems to get into trouble, so he's safer in his crate and we can leave with a clear head. Under 6 hours we just leave him out and he's OK (usually). These boxer babies take a while to mature, but get better and better. Jake knows when we're getting ready for work, etc. and curls up on the couch and SIGHS so we can hear him and gives us "the look" like how could you leave me???????????????/

Our 4 yr old is left out on his own ( he was over two before he "earned" this privilage. Our 8 month old is crated when we leave. She used to hate it, we had to practically drag her to it but now she goes willingly. A Couple of times I've managed to "sneek" into the house without her hearing and I find her in her crate on her back paws in the air snoring away. Plus Mason ( 4yr old) really enjoys his alone time without the nagging little sis to pester him!!!!! I swear sometimes when there isn't a need to crate her for days ( my g-mother now lives with us so Aspen doesn't have to be crated during the day anymore) Mason practically begs us all to leave so Aspen will have to go in her crate and he can rest!!!LOL

We made a play pen for our baby, but he became very depressed, he's 7 months old now and we can leave him in the house with no problem. We did get a patio panel that has the doggie door in it so he can go in and out with no problem and it's been great. We have a neighbour that's home all day so she tends to keep an eye out for him, she loves him too. You may have to crate your baby for a while but keep your fingers crossed, you never know, he may be good out on his own. appicon
Good luck,

We have two boxers one that is 3.5 yrs old and the other is about 1.5 yrs old. We let the older one roam the house during the day but our younger pup we keep in the laundry room. I can trust the two of them out for a few hours but if we have to be gone for most of the day for work then we seperate them.
