The last few months Bruiser has had HORRIBLE gas, I haven't changed his kibble or given him anything new to eat. I know gas is a Boxer trait, but to what extent? He will jump on the cough and one will just rip!!!!! It is the most horrible smell ever! LOL

 Some are worse tham others. Have you tried adding some yogurt to his meals. That helped mine. I do it a couple of times a week. Good luck :)

I've learned that chicken and brown rice give Apollo awful gas! I'll definitely have to try the yogurt as well :)

Gas is a sign of maldigestion. Yes, things like yoghurt (specifically the probiotics contained in the yoghurt) do often help a lot. But it is to some extent masking the problem rather than curing it. Plus, dairy products can often be a problem in themselves, so it's not the sort of thing I'd give daily by choice.

You might consider experimenting a little with food - and forms of food - to see if you can find something a bit less problematic for him. For example, a grain-free kibble may be easier for his system to deal with (grains are not easy for dog's digestive systems to deal with). Or you may find greater success with a homecooked, canned or raw diet that likewise exclude grains or gas-producing vegetables. It isn't really something where there are any guarantees (everyone's digestive system copes slightly differently, and intolerances vary between individuals), so you really need to just experiment and see what works best for him. But that's better in the long run than continuing with digestive problems or just masking the problem with probiotics.

Thanks for all of the info, Bruiser is on Taste of the wild right now....I believe that is grain free....right? I just started adding a little yogurt to his meals, it is organic but has like 15 grams of sugar in it. How much is ok to give him, I started putting some yogurt in his kong also and freezing it when I leave for work. I really want to try raw, I think I'm going to get a book this weekend and see how that goes.

Our boxer has a TON of gas as well. We have tried so many of the good brands. She also has food allergies where she get's hives all over. Right now we have her on EVO red meat. We have had her on the Barking over the moon and still gas galore. Tried the yogurt but she got bloody diarreah(vet said sign of allergy). We tried charcoal treats and it didn't help either. It's really frustrating to have the whole house smell like the sewer. No Kidding. It's so bad it makes the OUST spray jump back into the can. LOL

Mya's gas decreased dramatically when we switched from Canadaie to Wellness Core.

I don't use yogurt regularly, but if her tummy gets upset I'll add a tablespoon of Bio K+ yogurt for a few days.
