I spent the better part of 4 years preparing my life for a dog- and let me tell you, that wasn't even enough!

I've seen so many posts on here about how hard it is- no, it REALLY is. I mean, really.
You'll never be fully prepared until you do it.
I moved 5 minutes away from my work and have been very lucky that my work allows me to go home for lunch and skate out early most days. I work 8 hours (7 on early days). I start my morning with Luka and he demands most of my attention- the only "my" time in the whole day I get is in the shower (and he still sits outside it). Every action, every plan I have revolves around Luka- if I go out for drinks with my friend from out of town- who will let Luka out? If I stop for dinner after work- He's been in his crate all day- how can I put him in there any longer? I should feed him now, so he can use the bathroom and then we can go to the store...

I guess my main questions are how long can a puppy go unsupervised? How often do they need to be fed? Also, I am currently working midnight-8am. If I got a puppy, do you think it would sleep all morning while I'm at work or do you think it would become more nocturnal and sleep more during the day like me? Ummmm...I think that's all of the rambling I can do in one post. Thanks for any opinions.
Unsupervised? About 5 seconds. Luka has only been out of my site once and he swollowed a nylon stocking
I fed Luka at 7a and 5pm with treats in between. But as a young puppy, mostly, he was too excited to eat for about 3 days. Most puppies should be offered 3 meals a day.
In my expirence, puppies don't normally sleep one long stretch. They mostly follow your lead- if you're sleeping, they will too. But they usually play hard for a 1/2 hr and then sleep for an hour. They also need to go outside to use the bathroom- alot. Sometimes 2 or 3 times an hour.
You really need to think about it like having an infant- are you prepared for a baby?
I also took a week and 1/2 off when I brought Luka home. My mom helped out for awhile. Then a few weeks later, the holidays so I have been relaxed at work- he's come with me a few times. I've also had some 1/2 days. He's been with me almost 2 months and we're just now getti9ng settled. He still needs to use the bathroom every 3 hours (and that's pushing it- if I'm 20 minutes late, he goes in his crate). Luka is 5 months next week.
