Friend's dog visiting...how do I handle?

I am having a little New Year's Eve gathering and one of my friend's has no place to leave her Yorkie. My husband invited the dog, but I am pretty nervous about how Willie and the Yorkie will get along. In the summer they get a long pretty well when they are outside. The Yorkie barks a lot and hides under the patio furniture. Willie could care less, but if they are in my house together what could happen? Does anyone have any ideas on how to deal with this situation?

I refuse to keep Willie in the bedroom, while this strange dog is running ariond my house.

Does your friend have a crate for her dog? that would probably be the best place for it. It won't be left at home and she could let it out now and then.

That's a good idea. I will ask her about putting him in his crate. I know that they used to have one when he was a pup. I just wish that our dogs could be friends too!

they could still play outside, when they come in the little one will probably hide under something. Its just if you don't want to always be watching the dogs, the safest place for the Yorkie would be in a cage or room.

Zak had been with us one week before my daughters two dogs came to stay for 10 days. I was so worried about how Max the entire black lab would treat Zak and tried too late to get him into a kennel for the duration. To top it off, Zak has an elisabethan collar on him to stop him getting at his stitches. Well, nothing happened. They're all getting along nicely and if there's any trouble it usually comes from Zak and his darned collar. Everyone dives out of his way 'cos he's like a bull in a china shop with it on. You may find after the initial getting to know you period, the two of them will be best mates. All the best.
