Beau's Mommy

Boxer Insane
Yesterday my daughter came running into the house from riding her bike yelling "mom, there's a lost boxer outside!!" I was on the phone at the time and I guess I never even thought b/c I just sat the phone down and ran out the door. Luckily it was my Daughter-in-law that I was on the phone with so she just thought it was funny. Anyway, I go outside and sure enough there stands the sweetest little brindle boxer boy. He's intact so I was a little nervous about taking him home with me, so my neighbor took him home. Well, they just put him in the back yard and left the house. So this morning he was back out running the streets again.

I took him to our vet and had him checked for a microchip...no such luck. So, I posted signs in hopes of finding his family, and I've also called Tulsa Boxer Rescue. The rescue asked me to hold on to him if at all possible as their foster homes are full.

Anyway, here are some pictures of him. I think he's absolutely beautiful, and he is so well mannered. I'd keep him if I didn't think I'd end up a divorced woman! :(

Well, still no word from anyone :( It's hard for me to imagine, as many signs as I hung around town yesterday, that his owners haven't seen them and called....provided that they are in fact looking for him! He is a beautiful boy and soooo loving!! The only bad thing I've found in him is he's a fence jumper. I was hoping to have found his owner before Dh got back in town today (he went to New York for a few days to visit his son) because he wasn't exactly thrilled when he found out "Luke" was going to stay with us until I found his owner, or the rescue found a foster home...didn't happen!

I do think the poor guy might have something wrong with him. He is VERY skinny, but won't eat or drink much....just a nibble/sip here and there. And he just sleeps all the time. He looks to be about Beau's age, so 18 months old at the most, so he should be bouncing off the walls like my two, but he doesn't. *sigh* I guess we'll see what tomorrow brings. If I haven't heard anything from his owner I'll take him to the vet and hope for my pocketbook's sake there's nothing seriously wrong with him.

Well, still no word from anyone claiming him. It is so hard to believe that there is not someone searching high and low for this boy...he is such a good boy and so loving. He is more well mannered than my two, doesn't jump on people, doesn't chew on stuff he's not supposed to....other than wanting to jump the fence he's a perfect dog!

The good news is though, I've found him a great home where I know he'll be taken care of. My daughter-in-law's parents have seen his pictures and want him. They have experience with boxers and can provide a loving home for him. Plus...I can be kept updated on his progress and watch him grow! So in that respect, I'm kind of glad his original owners havent sought him out. By the looks of him he wasn't taken care of very well.

I'm glad you found him and that someone will be loving him. I know it's hard as an animal lover to think this way but sometimes when a dog doesn't look very well taken care they may have just been on their own for a while. Sometimes we need to think "lost" not "abused or neglected" We are still looking EVERYWHERE for our lost brindle boxer. He's been gone since Jan 6 and not one day has gone by without us looking for him, he is loved A LOT; however, if he is out on his own I doubt he's looking the picture of health and this is the part that is most upsetting to me. I hope a dog lover has him but will continue to look for us.
