Hello from Mike & Dottie Wesolowski!
We live in Waynesville Mo., and just found a 5 week old female boxer that we will bring home in 3-4 weeks!
I am Mike and was raised with Boxers growing up, plus my wife and I had a wonderful male Boxer named "Koz" that we had to leave with my Mom when we were ordered to Japan. (I am a US Marine) Of course after three years with a Boxer, Mom just couldn't give him up, and we could not have asked her to give him up. So I am very excited
to introduce my 8 year old son to his new sister"! Now for the preparations! We are looking for some feedback about cropping the ears.
I like the look of a boxer with cropped ears, but am getting used to seeing them uncropped. What are the benefits to leaving them uncropped versus getting them cropped? What does the average vet cost to crop the ears?
We got Koz when he was 6 mos. old. We are getting this puppy at 8-9 weeks old, so we are anxious about raising her with the proper habits and demeanor!
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Mike & Dottie

Hello Mike and Dottie! Welcome to the board :)

Congrats on your new boxer puppy. Boxers are increadible, aren't they. Once you get one you want more and more ;)

As for ear cropping, please try the Boxerworkd search engine on this topic as there were many threads on this with cons and pros also. Good luck :)

I guess let me start off by saying hooo ahhh....as a former Marine. Welcome to the board, and you are in for tons of good times with your little one. I have had Tyson for a week now and I can't remember life without him. Good luck

Welcome to the board, Mike & Dottie!

I bet these next 3-4 weeks are going to be sooo long for you. But, believe me, they are going to be worth it!

I can't help you on the ear cropping thing, we let Tiger go au-natural. :p It is a personal preference. But as I do not intend on showing Tiger, I didn't see the point in getting them done. If you do a search on ear cropping on this board, you will find quite a few threads related to this.

Good luck with your new baby, this board has a wealth of knowledgable members, they have helped me raise our baby from 8 weeks, I'm sure they'll be able to help you!

CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!
welcome to you two and your new fur baby!!!!!
To crop or not to crop it is just a preference.I like floppy ear the neighbors arent as afraid of my pup who has natural ear as they are for aboxer boy who lives down the street with cropped ear,it makes him look so servere and dominant. It is all your chioce all that matters is that you love her,she will still be the same bouncy pup with or w/out.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Congrats!!! I agree with others that you can get lots of information on cropping by searching previous threads. I just wanted to mention that the boxers I grew up with were cropped, and I used to prefer that look, but now that my sister and I both have boxers with natural ears, I've adjusted and gotten to the point that I actually prefer the look of natural. I think you would quickly get used to natural if you don't want to go through with cropping.

Welcome to Boxerworld!

Boxers are the best! I never grew up with them...but once I got my boy Hook 5 years ago I was hooked! I added another addition 2 years ago, a little girl.

The cropping question comes up a lot and you would benefit from doing a search...the threads you find will be helpful!

Congrats on your new addition! I cant wait to see pics!

Congrats on your new addition, my boxers ears are also au natural so I can't help on the cropping issue. But I agree that there have been many threads, some far more debated than others, that you can find by doing a search here. We look forward to pictures!
