To night I was rubbing my 8 week old puppies back. I found a bump. It feels like it is under the skin. I was thinking that it might be from the shots that she got on 5/11/06. I am so worried that it might be something really bad. I was just hopping that someone could give me an idea on what it could be…

The bump is pretty much near the end of Sophie's neck...almost between the shoulder blades. I had wondered if maybe it was a cist of some sort that was nothing, or at least we are hoping it is nothing. Any advice or information would be extremely helpful!

Is it where the shots were given? Sometimes a cyst or inflamation from vaccines causes a lump for a few days. I'd watch it and if it doesn't go away have you vet check her over. :)

I'd keep an eye on it over the next couple of days, if it doesn't go away take her back to the vet, over the passed 9 years clio has had almost 7 surgery's for removing lumps, thank the lord they haven't been cancerous, but it's always a good idea to get them checked out.

Sounds like the shot. It can take a couple of weeks for it to go away. Next time you go in for shots make sure to ask where they did it.

TecShdw and Sophies_Mom......both parents to the same dog I'm guessing?
It does sound like a fairly normal reaction to some vacs. If it changes or doesn't go away in a few days you may want the vet to have a look just for peace of mind.

Yes I am her DH! Today she called the vet that did the original vaccinations and that is EXACTLY where they were given and the vet said that this is normal :) Either way, we still made her her very first appointment with our vet next Tuesday to have her checked out, and caught up on any shots she may need!

thank you for the information....I sort of figured it was from the shots also, so I called the vet that did the shots, and that is where they were given, it is getting smaller also...I was just really worried something was wrong with my new baby :( So we will have her checked out real well on tuesday when she goes to the vet

thanks everyone for the information!

We had the same freakout when Jersey was around 5 months old - the vaccination bump does stick around for a while, but you can be 99.9% sure it's from the shots.
