It is so rewarding

I am currently fostering a gorgeous 3.5 year old white male boxer. He is an absolute joy to have in our home. He has excellent manners, is house broken, calm, gentle and loving. I do not know how anyone could not want him. I am going to foster him through his heartworm treatment and then we will see... My DH is already saying he wants to keep him but I think it is more important to get him into a good home and then help another one. I have to tell you, it is very rewarding.

Fostering is the backbone of boxer rescue! I found it very rewarding. Many decide to adopt their first foster and quit, but I urge you to think about that before beginning. If you let each one go to a good home, so many more boxers can be helped!

Because of fostering, I actually have many boxer babies out there who I can keep up with and enjoy hearing about their wonderful lives!

Ashlie, that is exactly what I keep telling my husband. He is already in love and wants to keep Halo but I tell him to look at the big picture and think about how many more boxers can be helped! Let's see if I can convince him.

yes but what do you do when you want to foster, but your local rescue doesn't use fostering? Here in Illinois there's only 1 boxer rescue, and they don't foster. We recently lost our dear Molly, and I'd really like to open our home to a needy boxer.

It's very unfortunate, but shelters often times get too full and have to turn away dogs (or euthanize them). I think it would be a great idea for you to call your local Boxer Rescue and let them know that you would love to foster, should they ever need one.

In addition, there are probably a dozen other ways they could use your help ;)

Good luck

Courtney,
That is precisely what I did. I sent them an email on Friday. Hopefully they will respond soon.
Unfortunately they are too far away for me to go there to help out. But I also applied as a volunteer at the local humane society and let them know that if they get any boxers I'd be willing to foster. I'm waiting to hear from them as well.
