I just want to say, THANK YOU for opening your home and life to a foster baby. I do the same thing here in ABQ. I always wanted another dog, my son lives with my parents due to my extensive travel schedule at work. I just got the job here and didnt know anyone to take care of him while i was out of town. I got my katie while in grad school a couple of years ago, and my son wasnt there, he has resented Katie ever since, he is moving out this year and i told him he could get his "own" dog then. So until he gets here i decided to foster boxers. I have to tell you it is very very rewarding. I was afraid that i would have trouble giving the foster up when they got adopted, but have found that if i look at it a certain way it makes it easier. I like to think that my home is not the best forever home for these babies, and since i want the very best for them it is easier to give them up. I now work very closely with the boxer rescue in our area, attending meetings, representing them at events and so forth. I always make sure that i make some one-on-one time with both dogs, lots of love and kisses. And to be honest, since i started i havent had a time where it was just Katie. Although, due to travel again from work, i wont be able to foster until october. And i just dont know how i will survive without 2 boxers. Please do some research into introducing the foster with your boxer, that is the most critical time, remember that "kids" fight sometimes so be prepared to break one up. I dont feed them at the same time since my katie is food aggressive with other dogs, but what i do is put her food down and take the foster into a closed room and work on basic commands. and then vice-versa when he eats.
I just realized how long this is getting  please feel free to PM me with any other questions. There are several people on here who work in rescues from all over the US so i am sure they will add a few things as well. (been alone too long so i tend to talk alot! :D )
Thanks again!
