After loosing my boy..there is a total void in our home...we need a quick fix of some kidney beaning....whooo hoooing...and the boxer burns...So our family has decided to foster some homeless boxers here in Canada..its the same organization that we adopted Duke from...I know that he would want this...and we are not looking forward to the fosters leaving for there new homes...but we can love them and spoil them rotten during their stay with us....and we are all happy about that !!!!

I think that is a GREAT idea.

What a wonderful way to honour a life.

Your generousity and love will help a Boxer in need. You are giving these Boxers a helping hand to their forever home. Who knows, you might find your next Boxer this way!

Have fun loving and spoiling these guys - they sure do deserve it.

Good for you! That's a wonderful thing to do--and in the process, if you absolutely can't part with one of them, you could adopt!!;)

We did that

After we suddenly lost our beloved boy, Remo, to a spleen tumor in January, we started fostering. It has certainly kept us busy and the void was not so noticeable. We still miss Remo and talk about him and his antics. But we have now adopted Bob - and Iris - after fostering both first.

Good luck in your efforts. It will certainly help some needy dogs but sometimes it really helps us more, doesn't it?

Laurie, I think that sounds like a great idea! As mentioned before, you may find your next baby this way! I'm sure Duke is smiling down at you right now for making the decision! He would be happy sharing his loved ones with other Boxers that need them ;) !

When our last boxer Hooligan was diagnosed with lymphoma we stopped fostering for the 8 months he had left so we could give him all our love and attention but after we lost him, I started fostering again almost immediately. I needed those foster dogs as much as they needed me, it helped fill the void in my day and eased the pain a bit and really helped me in the healing process. And about 4 foster dogs later we of course ended up adopting one of those fosters, and he has been with us a year and is the love of my life.

Fostering is very rewarding, and when the time is right a special one will come along that you just have to keep :)

Laurie,

I think that is a fantastic idea. I would like to foster someday too, but I am afraid I would want to keep them all!!

Seriously though, I think it will help you heal. You'll have the familiarity of boxer love surrounding you and you will be able to redirect your emotions into caring for these special babies. And, after a while, you will probably find one that touches your heart more than the rest and you will become his/her new forever home.

God Bless you. You are an angelicon and I know Duke is very, very proud of the decision you've made.

What a wonderful idea! It will be good for both you and the foster dogs. But most of all, I hope it helps you through the healing process.
