A little story that was sent to me by a friend. I wanted to share with those of you have found love with a rescued boxer.

A farmer had some puppies he needed to sell. He painted a sign advertising the 4 pups. And set about nailing it to a post on the edge of his yard. As he was driving the last nail into the post, he felt a tug on his overalls. He looked down into the eyes of a little boy. "Mister," he said, "I want to buy one of your puppies."

"Well," said the farmer, as he rubbed the sweat of the back of his neck, "These puppies come from fine parents and cost a good deal of money."

The boy dropped his head for a moment. Then reaching deep into his pocket, he pulled out a handful of change and
held it up to the farmer. I've got thirty-nine cents. Is that enough to take a look?"

"Sure," said the farmer. And with that he let out a whistle. "Here, Dolly!" he called. Out from the doghouse and
down the ramp ran Dolly followed by four little balls of fur. The little boy pressed his face against the chain link fence. His eyes danced with delight. As the dogs made their way to the fence, the little boy noticed something else stirring inside the doghouse. Slowly another little ball appeared, this one noticeably smaller. Down the ramp it slid. Then in a somewhat awkward manner, the little pup began hobbling toward the others, doing its best to catch up....

"I want that one," the little boy said, pointing to the runt. The farmer knelt down at the boy's side and said, "Son, you don't want that puppy. He will never be able to run and play with you like these other dogs would."

With that the little boy stepped back from the fence, reached down, and began rolling up one leg of his trousers. In
doing so he revealed a steel brace running down both sides of his leg attaching itself to a specially made shoe. Looking back up at the farmer, he said, "You see sir, I don't run too well myself, and he will need someone who understands." With tears in his eyes, the farmer reached down and picked up the little pup. Holding it carefully he handed it to the little boy.

"How much?" asked the little boy.

"No charge," answered the farmer, "There's no charge for love."

Yeah, that's us. Maybe Owen and I aren't different in ways other people/boxers can see, but we are different. I've been saying lately that it's a good thing Owen ended up with me because most people wouldn't deal with what it deal with to be with him, but I guess it works the other way too. He has to deal with my faults as well :o .

Thanks,

What a cute story! All of our dogs that we've ever had along the way have been rescues in one way or another. And they've all turned out to be wonderful pets and have gave us a lifetime of love and loyalty. I personally will only have rescue dogs for the rest of my life. The way I see it is there are plenty of babies out there who need love that live in shelters/rescues. Like everybody else here, I think my boxer baby is the world, b/c he is my world. I love my Titan with all my heart and I will do anything for him no matter what it takes. I made a commitment to take care of him and love him forever the day I rescued him, and for all he does for me I can give him a little food, water, and lots of attention in return.

I love that story! I've heard it once before, and it always makes me smile, and as silly as it sounds, almost brings a tear to my eye. I love cute stories like that. THank you for sharing that!

Well, it did bring a tear to my eyes. Love doesn't know any bounds and coming up to Easter, maybe we need to remember what it is truely all about. And there sure isn't any price or charge on that love. It's priceless.

Yep, I got a little misty, too! Beasley is my rescue baby and it's so true...there is no charge for love! I firmly believe that Beasley and I found each other for a reason. I needed someone who would love me unconditionally, and I found someone with 4 legs and a nubbin' that just wouldn't quit. He needed someone who would let him see the light of day more than 3 hours a day...and I think he got much more than he ever dreamed. I love my Beasley-butt!

*Sniff, sniff* That was beautiful! After rescuing Greta, I too will never have anything but a rescue dog. I can't even explain in words how much she has changed our whole family. We love her so much! And she gives us so much back return.
