My female was almost 2 and my male was 6 months old when I brought my baby home. My whole pregnancy my female was the one who knew I was pregnant and she would sniff my belly and when the baby would move she would whine and make faces. When I brought home my daughter, I had been gone 3 days, and during that time my husband would bring home a couple tshirts the baby had worn so they could sleep with it and smell to their content. When I brought the baby home I never kept the dogs apart and my worry was really with my 6 month male who is very energetic. But I should never had worried. He may jump all over adults and go crazy, but with my daughter (and other toddlers) he is as careful as can be. Putting the baby in one of those bouncy seats was great, and I wouldnt lay her on the floor unless the dogs had been in awhile and were chilled out. My Male Noahs favorite spot was where ever the baby was. I guess as for my female, the baby was interesting, but she still loves her mommy. My female who is 4 now still doesnt show as much interest in the baby as my now almost 3yo male, but if shes upset or crying then they are both beside themselves. You can always find my male about 2 steps behind my daughter, and everything she does is the most interesting thing he has ever seen. She takes his toys(and he loves his balls) and lures him all over the house. She just doesnt understand that every once in awhile she should throw it for him. I can go outside and hell tug away all day and not give me the ball, but my daughter only has to touch it and he releases it. I could go on all day about what a great relationship my dogs(especially my make) have with my child(and family, I also have a 9 and 12 yo stepdaughter), but there is not enough time to write about it all. People, who knew how crazy I am about my boxers, are still asking how I could trust 2 large dogs(both 70 pounds) around my daughter, but all I say is I worry about what she could do to them.
