I have always used Wellness for my dogs, and have recently adopted a rescue, who has been bouting with an upset belly since we got her two weeks ago. I have been giving her rice and chicken, and that has helped, tremendously, but wanted some suggestions for when I wean her off this. She definately has a sensitive stomache: and suggestions? Would love to stick with Wellness, but would love some feedback.

I'm also curious about this as my puppy has the same problem, except he was on Canidae, went to chicken and rice and everything was good. weaned him back to the Canidae, not realizing this was the problem. and he is back to having the runs, and an upset tummy...

I also use Wellness for Luke. One of the girls on the board said that she found it was too rich for her dog. Maybe thats the problem that you are having with your new little one. I hear that Innova and Canadie is also good. If the Wellness doesn't work out for us I may switch to Innova. But every dog is different.

My girls are on Wellness, it seemed to do best for them. But, I have also heard Chicken Soup for the Dog Lovers Soul is a good food too, I used the chicken soup for cats until the vet put my cat on a diet (he was on Wellness before that). Make sure you make the change gradually not suddenly because that'll make them have tummy problems too.

If you want to continue feeding Wellness, they have the Duck & Potatoe and Fish & Sweet Potatoe formulas that may help with the upset tummy. I also feed Wellness (Chicken Formula) and I love it, but I've heard from other dog owners and the owner of the local pet supply store that I buy Wellness from that Wellness is very rich, and not at all dogs that are not accustomed to such rich food can handle it.

If allergies is the problem, I've heard that Flint River is a good food for allergies.

Just some thoughts. Good luck! :)

Switched to Innova

We decided to make the switch from Wellness to Innova. I think it was actually too rich for Luke. His stools were starting to get really soft and he was going alot during the day. About 4 or 5 times a day. Is that normal??? oooh and the farts were BAD. He is also shedding alot too. So I bought a bag of Innova and were slowly mixing it thru. Hope this helps:)
btw - just curious. The ingriedients are almost the same... so what makes Wellness so rich?

California Natural is supposed to be good if the foods that are too rich aren't working out because CN has only two ingredients and that's it. So, its a very simple diet. The girl that owns the store I go to said that Wellness can be too rich for some dogs, but that's what I'm gonna start my puppy out on and see how it goes.
