Hello everyone.

Last night at 9:30 Truvie had a full blown siezure. Her legs were twitching her head was turned under and her eyes were as wide as saucers. The twitching lasted for almost a minute, then when it stopped her whole body went stiff for another 2 minutes. She finally started to come out of it, but it took another 10 minutes before she could walk normally. As soon as she stopped twitching I had my son come sit with her and I ran to put some clothes on, scooped her up and went to the vet immediately.

By the time we got to the vet she was completely normal again. She had a normal temperature and the rest of her exam was normal. They did some blood work and found that she was a little anemic which was probably due to the coccidiosis. He gave us some vitamins to give her for that.

He said that she was pretty young to be having seizures and at this time cannot determine what caused it. It could be a congenatal abnormality, toxin ingestion, food allergy or infection. But since I know she didn't get into anything it can't be a toxin (I will be double checking the toxicity of the plants in the back yard), and she doesn't have a fever so I guess that rules out infection. I really don't know what to think. He suggested we put her on a hypoallergenic diet and just monitor her carefully over the next couple of weeks and record her activity. If she starts having more than 3 siezures a week we will start the phenobarbatol.

It breaks my heart that she's going through this. Looking back I realize that her last episode was a siezure, it was probably just a mild one.

Thanks for all of your input I appreciate it, and I will let you know what is going on with her. She is due to get spayed next Thursday along with her sister but the vet said since her bloodwork was fine then there was no need to delay it.

Thanks again,

No real advice but I just wanted to say I am sorry you have to go through this. Hoping all works out ok and she won't have many more

Sorry for what your baby is going thru. I changed Austin's food last year and he hasn't had a head tremor since Last July.
