Flying to Europe

Next week around this time I will be on a plain flying over the ocean. Although I don't really like the flyingpart ofthe whole thing, I'm a bit exited because my mom and dad are taking me to my big family. I get to see all my friends, human ones and furry ones. I get two weeks of attention 24/7. I can go to restaurants and bars where they give me cookies. And sometimes I even get a sip of dad's beer. But you know what the best part is, everyone pets me and hugs me and I finally will see my best friend Sisko again. He's a Bernese mountaindog and my best furry friend, we can play for hours and run trough the house like crazy. I wish everyone a lovely christmas and a happy new year. And I hope they go easy on the fireworks this year because I don't like it at all.

I'm going to Belgium. The whole family still lives in Antwerp and I miss them a lot during the year. But now I will have two weeks of playtime with them.

Just curious - is there no quarantine issues with bringing a dog from the USA to Europe, I know there is in Ireland so I was just curious, I wish I could bring my boxer home with me on vacation to Ireland to meet my family.

no there is no quarantine foe Belgium. Have you checked recently for Ireland because I thought they had changed their quarantine rules. At least the UK has done it as far as I know.

For the English quarantine free holiday you have to come from the 'European Union' countries, and have to have a certificate to say that you have lived there for at least 6 months I believe.

wow! this is really great! I am planning a trip to greece next summer but I hate the thought of having to leave jessy home. What type of arrangements were necessary? Are there special compartments that they keep animals? The flight is about 9 hrs, I wonder if jessy would tolerate such a long trip. Any info. would be great! thanks

We normally fly with Delta because they consider the dogs as luggage, that means that you can keep them with you until about an hour before departure. If they travel as cargo they need to be there a couple of hours in front, what make the travel time even longer. We always sedate them a little, so that they still can stand but are much calmer than normal. For Belgium all you need is an healthcertificate from your vet and a valid rabiesshot (not more then 1year old). I don't know for Greece but you can always check at the website of the Greek embassy or even with the airliner. Belgium is also a long flight but last year they did great. We payed last year about $200 per dog roud trip, for us it's cheaper to take them with us than to board them. the thing you need to take into consideration is that if you travel to Greece in the summer it will be very hot there and boxers and high temeratures don't go very well together.
