I too was wondering how old Chevy was when you had the procedure done - 11 weeks is not too old - I think it's more like 14-16 weeks. I had Magnum's ears cropped when he was 11 or 12 weeks old (I can't remember exactly which one). Yes, it's getting "close" to being too late, but it's not too late. The thought of a vet that would even perform a crop when it is too late scares me.

I too have made mistakes with being too trusting of a vet's "knowledge". It's an easy mistake to make - you would like to believe someone who has that kind of education would be smart and know what they're doing, but sadly, that's not always the case. On a different note, regarding ear cropping, vets are not trained to crop ears while in school (it's an acquired skill they learn later through practice).

Don't beat yourself up - you're a good boxer owner and Chevy will be fine. I too have learned so much from this site and that's all you can do - take the knowledge you gain here and move forward.

I would find a reputable breeder in your area (check with a local boxer club and Sabrina Jay lives in KC, so she may have some recommendations for you) to help you with the taping and they will probably have a vet or two they can recommend to you.

I just decided to leave them alone and love him however he looks. They are standing up pretty well, someone said the other day that they thought boxers had longer ears. Oh well! He is adorable to me--that means I should have been content with having them uncropped and he wouldn't have had to go through the pain. It is for cosmetic's anyway. He is still cute and happy!
