FletchersMom
Boxer Insane
This morning I put the kids on the bus like I normally do. We enter and exit through our garage which is attached to our house and has an interior door that opens into our kitchen. Anyway I came in through the kitchen and locked that door behind me like I always do. My hubby is always complaining that I lock up like Fort Knox and that it isn't necessary because we live out in the country and we know all the neighbors and there is virtually no crime in our area. But call me anal...I lock everything. So I go get into the shower to get ready for work and as I almost done Fletcher starts going NUTS. He is barking and growling viciously like someone is there. So I hurry up and get out thinking that maybe a neighbor as at the door. As I am drying off I hear the unmistakeable sound of the kitchen door being jiggled like someone trying to get in the house. Now I'm thinking that one of the kids had forgotten something and on the bus' second trip through the neighborhood they were stopping to get it. I walk past the window and see no bus, in fact no cars on the street or in the driveway. Fletcher is still flipping out. I went to the door and called out "hello" no answer. Thinking that Fletcher was responding to an animal I opened the door to show him no one was there and THERE WAS A MAN STANDING THERE. He didn't say a word to me he just stood there staring for a good five seconds. He was filthy and had a full beard and his eyes, I can only describe them as blank and cold. By now Fletcher is in total attack mode which is TOTALLY out of the norm for him with a stranger, he normally would just bark and wait for my reaction. But he clearly didn't like this man, he pushes past me and lunges for the guy, teeth barred, hair standing up, literally foaming at the mouth. The minute the guy saw Fletcher, he turned and RAN out of the garage. I slammed the door and called the cops. They came and took my statement telling me that a woman had been raped on a bike trail a mile from my house by a man matching the same discription. He went on to say that Fletcher had probably saved my life this morning. I am still in shock and they are still looking for the guy. I am so thankful Fletcher was there.
