Should I do anything for flea and tick control on a 9 week old boxer? I did buy some spot treatment but after reading the directions it says to not put on if under 6 months. We do live a couple of blocks from the woods and will vist them when Otto gets a little older. Just wondering if I need to go without until next Summer.

It sounds like whatever you bought is the cheap stuff that you can buy at the grocery store, Wal-Mart, PetSmart, etc if it says no earlier than 6 months. If you get something that's through a vet, Frontline Plus, Advantage, etc then it's 8 weeks and really that's all you should use, the other things are dangerous.
I started using Frontline Plus on my pup at 7 1/2 weeks old for fleas and ticks without any problems. He'll be 2 years old next month and has had it applied every month since he was 7 1/2 weeks and IMO it is one of the safest products on the market. Cheapest place I've found it that it is EPA approved for sale in the USA is vetdepot online.
