First time meeting another puppy...

Hi All

First proper post here, our boxer (Rafa - 10 weeks old), had the pleasure of meeting one of the in-laws puppies yesterday - a 5 month old Lab. This is his first encounter with another dog out of puppy socialization classes.

All went pretty well and they both just got on with it, running around the house/garden forever before settling down - pleased to say that even at 10 weeks old Rafa had the better of Diego the Lab in most of their "wrestling" bouts ;-)

Anyway, my question is: Is it best to generally just let them get on with it or should some restraint be shown on these intros to keep things a little calmer???

So glad that Rafa had fun meeting the other pup. They are fun to watch aren't they.

Personally, I would simply supervise the get together. As long as neither of the dogs is being too overwhelmed, I wouldn't worry. Of course if it seems that one is getting too excited, or too tired, give them a bit of quiet time. Other than that, let the good times roll! :D

there is nothing more adorable then puppies at play...happy to hear all went well and supervise is always good just as you would with children!

Glad to hear that the two got on so well.
As Indy´s mom has said just keep an eye on them to make sure that all goes well.

I bet that was so cute to watch! I love your pups pictures also, beautiful little guy! As long as it isn't getting to the point where they hurt one another all should be fine.

They were great fun to watch - Liverpool (soccer) were playing a big game on the TV which I was planning to watch and I think I spent the whole time watching them play !

Rafa is named after Rafael Benitez - the Liverpool manager! Not sure about Diego, will have to find out

He is going out this Sunday for his first venture outside to play - should be interesting!!! Live next to a big park with a large pond that we might just go and play in, preparing to get very wet !!!
