This past week,i gave Avra 1 spoon of honey every day and i noticed that she is more active and her lips and below her eyes are very pink ,whereas before then ,she was more pale:eek:
About 3 months ago she had done blood tests and was fine.

I have started to worry...may she is hypoglycemic and the vet didn't find that.How i could know?:confused:

My boxer will be 6 in August. He was diagnosed with a brain stem "lesion" last year. A couple times aftrr resting, usually in his crate- he had head tremors...nothing else seemed to bother him. He was playful and loving and his stub was a-waggin'- but he looked like Kate Hepburn! I wrote it off as brain tumor side effects...but am actually relieved to read it is common and not always concerning for this breed. Esp. d/t his recent aggression( see my post) Good luck with your boxer!

Hi Sophia, we did not know straight away with Ruben what it was, but he fainted a few times from about 6 weeks old. We had a test done for hypoglycemia (a blood chemistry test I think, this was a little over 5 years ago and my memory is not good). He had a very, very bad start as a puppy and had to be revived 3 times (after a C-Section), and then was weak as well and had to be hand fed - I'm sure all this had to do with the hypoglycemia. Now he is a big strong healthy boy I don't give honey here daily as I also worry about them having too much sugar - but sometimes if they have porridge for breakfast in winter I will give them a little honey to make it nice.

Head Tremors

My first boxer had a couple of head tremors but nothing ever came about it. She also was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy 6 years later. I do not know if this related. I am too concerned because my current almost 2 year old Boxer had her first tremor yesterday in the car. She had been at the soccer park all morning and fell asleep in the car and sat up and had one. I kept talking to her and she stopped. Then that evening she had taken a nap and lifted her head up with another one that went away as I rubbed her. She just went through stomach surgery 2 weeks with an attack of pancreatitus and I just changed her food from Eukanuba to Wellness. I don't know if this is the cause or not but if she continues I may change her food again. The weird thing is my first Boxer's head tremors were from side to side and Barkley's is up and down.

I just wanted to let everyone know that roxy hasn't had another tremor. It was just about three days total. Maybe it was the food, maybe not. I am so thankful for all of you, I was so worried and my mind was relieved to know Roxy's not the only one out there that had this problem. I did want to mention that our other vet got the blood tests back and her pancreas( production?) was high. Someone earlier mentioned pancretiis and head tremors.

Pancreatitus and head tremors

Yes, my dog, Barkley, has pancreatitus and just had her first head tremor yesterday. There has been alot said about low blood sugar and tremors. I did change her food because of the pancreas attack. Mabe she has low blood sugar. I do not know. I will keep everyone posted on her condition. She just threw up again today after not throwing up for 1 week. I hope she is not having another attack. Head Shaking

Oh my gosh! I own a 1yr old boxer boy my named Church and About two weeks ago I woke up with Church's head shaking in my hand. I thought he was dreaming so I went to wake him up and he stopped shaking his head, but for some reason it struck me in a little weird. I started wondering if it was a seizure? I've been through sezures before with my last boxer who had a "brain stem lesion" and new this was nothing like that. I also have a Boston Terrier who has been through a couple different types of sezures too. Its so weird three different dogs all different types of sezures. I'm starting know a little to much on seizurs. Why me??? Seizurs are so scary.
So I let Church's sezure go, not knowing if it was a dream or sezure? this was about 2 weeks ago and I didn't really think to much of it until last night. I was getting ready to run down to the store real quick when I noticed him sitting in his bed just shaking his head this went on for about 1 minute or 2. I couldn't believe it! my baby boy!!!I was really hoping he was just dreaming the first time and now I know their something going on. I'm not to sure about taking him in yet because I know that at this point theirs not much that can be done, except to start doing test in order to rule eveything else out. Which I want to do, but I need to save a little extra money before getting him in, unless he starts doing it all the time, then he'll be in right away. My Boston just went through all this back in Dec 03 and nothing was found. All his test came back normal.
Church's sezure was only for a couple min as far as I know, since I walked in on him doing this last night. Has anyone else had this happen with a young boxer? Church is only a 1yr old. Does it ever go away? does it get worse? Its weird because he is fully alert and he doesn't act like any thing is bother him at all he just shakes his head a little. Any home remdies out their? I didn't notice any loss of color, but I also shut the light off right away to calm him down, which worked. I learned this with the others. I was doing some reading and saw that some times it could be caused by low blood surgar and thought that I would start giving him some honey in his food. Would you only add the honey once a day or twice? He's currently being feed Chicken Soup for Adult Dogs twice a day 4 Cups a day and he's been on this food since Dec without any problems. Can food allergies take that long to notice? I did so much reading before choosing dog food, deciding whether or not to stick with puppy food or adult and swithed him to adult food in Dec 03.

Good to hear

I posted a thread about head tremors about a year ago and didn't see too much back then on here. I am relieved to hear that so many other people's boxers have them too. I think it's weird that it is so common in boxers. AT first I thought it was these treats that I was giving him b/c it seemed like every day he had them he had the tremors. Again at night or early morning. And you can pretty much break them out of it... AT least I could at first. But now sometimes he will even get up to walk and his head is still shakin back and forth. It doesn't really scare me too much anymore b/c it doesn't happen A LOT. My vet ALSO said she had never heard of it and ran bloodwork and it ALSO had something to do with high something or other in his pancreas something.... ???:rolleyes:

So has any one's OLDER boxer had these tremors when younger and been ok once he got older?

I am so happy to hear everyone has the same problems...
