First Christmas

We have offically changed Chances name to Tug. She is a puller! She pulls rugs, purses, toilet paper and anything else she can get a hold of when I am not looking. All PUPPY!

Being this her first Christmas and ours with a puppy. We have elected not to put up our usual real tree. I always love the scent of a real tree. Well today I bought a fake tree. One that will sit on the table. Its kinda cool...fiber optic. Normally this isnt my style but I know TUG will get into trouble so why tempt her?

I know as an eleven week pup she is going to walk up and grab a branch. These little devils are quick. I am thinking I am avoiding a situation.
I plan on a real tree next year. Has anyone else done something like this. Or am I a paranoid mom?

We have an artificial tree because I was tired of my cat climbing the tree and knocking the ornaments off! I am not in the mood to clean up pine needles all day, and I never remember to water! I love my artificial tree because it also comes with lights and takes only a couple of minutes to put up and take down!

I've been lucky because Toffee--even as a puppy--never got into things. I'm very spoiled lovicon.

But I know some of the people here sort of fence off their tree so the pups can't get to it. It seems to work pretty well. You might try something like that for next year.

My Toni is 11 months old this Christmas and as a puppy she still thinks everything is for her enjoyment. I have a couple pictures in my gallery of how I solved the Christmas tree dilema. Mine is an artificial tree. I don't know if it would work with a real tree. Good luck and Merry Christmas.

Fence around the tree!

Great idea with the fence, with this being Sadie's first christmas and all...I think we'll pass on a live tree as well, we had a bad wind storm a few months ago and a big pine branch fell in the back yard...and lets just say miss Sadie had a ball.

Hberry23 I know what you mean. Toni thinks it is her personal responsibilty to play with and then stack all fallen branches in my back yard. A good portion of my back yard is wooded and so we get a lot of fallen branches. She will play with them, drag them, and just have a ball. When she is done she piles them up by the back deck for us. Don't want to take a chance with a real tree. As much as she "respects" fences and baby gates, I am not sure she could resist the smell of a live tree. Heck bf cut down a couple of cedars in the back yard and she lays on them. Can just imagine that she would think a real tree is something to lay on.
