We leave sat to go camping for a week. Last weekend PJ was at the kennel so we could take kids to Water Safari over night. I picked PJ up on monday. Any time he sleeps he is always in his crate (even for naps durning day.) He does not go far from his crate. I plan to bring his crate with us just in case. I have a slide side pop up camper, there is not much extra space for the crate inside I want to tie him in the camper at night. Just in case the door gets opened. Does anyone have any thoughts about the camping trip and maybe tips for PJ at camp.

Hi Lincoln,

We camp too, will you be doing one of the sites here in NY? We generally go to North South Lake in the Haines Falls area - awesome trails!. See this link for some info:

Also, I've seen other threads on camping ?'s on BW, just do a search for "camping" and I'm sure you'll find lots of helpful info. Sounds like this will be PJ's 1st camping trip, he's going to have a blast~

We just went camping with brody for 4th of july. He had a blast. there are some pictures. We turned our heads for a second and he and two other boxers were gone. He was half a mile down hill waiting in the middle of the road for me. TALK ABOUT CRYING THE WHOLE TIME. My heart droped all I could think was my baby was gone. Just keep PJ tied up. If he isnt tied keep an eye on him. HAVE FUN!!!!! I cant wait to go again. Brody loved being out side and running around everywhere. He in cali we had to look out for the bears. But thank goodness they were not there that weekend.

Just got back from camping. Had good and bad times. PJ got bit by something and broke out in hives and swelled up. I gave him benadryl and call his vet. I did not need to take him in. They told me to watch him if he did not get better to bring him in the next day. He swam like a fish (or should I say jump through the water like a deer). I had alot of people comment about how much he liked the water.. We got home and he took a 3 hr nap and was not very interested in being outside (like he missed home). I did use his crate, I set it up inside our pop up camper every night.

Bailey just had her first camping experience this weekend and she did pretty good. During the day at the river I let her run around because the road is not close and I'm really trying to work on her recall (she is getting much better). When we were at the campsite I kept her on a tie-out because I just don't trust her yet and the road was too close for comfort. Her big sis is the best camper so I'm hoping she'll learn from her. That's great that PJ loves the water, Bailey sinks like a rock but she's getting better. And it's also a good thing you had benedryl on you, I need to remember that.
