I do not know if I put this in the most appropriate forum for my subject. My friends and I were having a early holiday celebration and they decided to lite some of the fireworks. I was cooking at the time so I did not go outside. Nate was on the steps with my husband looking down on the back porch where the fireworks were. My husband says Nate sat by him until they lit the last firework, and for some reason he decided to chase that firework. My husband went after him but you can see the little hairs on his chin got singed :| I was FURIOUS!!! Nate is ok but he could have been seriously injured. PLEASE do not let your dog anywhere near a home fireworks show, Nate is the most mellow, lazy dog anyone has ever met and he took off after the fireworks. I just want all my BW friends to stay safe this weekend. thanks-amyB

Awe, poor little Nate, I am so glad he is ok. You are right, it could have been much worse. We did a few fireworks for the kids tonight and to be on the safe side, I put Bella on her tie out....beings that I have heard of so many dogs running away from being so scared. She did fine for all the sprinklers and pretty fireworks, once dh lit the loud ones, she started shaking and running toward the house scared to death. I let her in the house and she flew in her kennel....poor baby. I hope Nate is feeling better soon, give him a kiss from me and Bella.

Aww poor Nate! It's strange how sometimes it seems like they get into a "zone" and due the most unexpected things!

We had an early fireworks celebration here as well, a hotel near our house shoots off those huge/very loud awesome fireworks display and the whole neighborhood get into the spirit. Plato did made it through pretty well (his first 4th of July with us), but I did keep him on his lead next to me the whole time. I found keeping him in a more submissive seated position with my husband and I at his side kept him calm. Otherwise I think he would have ran around our yard barking like a complete mad man and probably ending up getting injured in some way...he just can't control himself at times!

poor thing!!! I am glad nothing serious happened.

home made fireworks, we don't have them here. BUt lots of fireworks in the air, especially during the wedding season, which is now!

Krose is used to it now. He used to look at me everytime, ''what's going on ma?'' he could care less now. But when we're outside and he sees them, he actually sits down and stares at them:D
