Boxer Booster
lovicon It has been 5 months since our journey to find bring home a boxer baby. We have had so much tragedy in our lives, we lost Laila on Jan. 19, we lost a dear friend to cancer on Jan. 21 (also my daughter's 19th birthday) and on Jan. 22 my daughter was hit head on by a guy under the influence of multiple drugs. The wreck was horrific and she was lucky to not only survive but her injuries were orthopedic. Her lower leg was horribly broken and she has had 2 surgeries and about 13 days in the hospital so far. Needless to say we had to postpone getting a puppy until she regained the ability to walk unassisted.
We brought our little girl home Saturday. She is so sweet, funny, fiesty, adorable, willful, well you get the picture she's a boxer puppy. It is so wonderful having the entire family laughing hysterically. She is just what we needed to help our family heal emotionally. Everyone in the house is involved in her training and care, but somehow I am the only one involved in the middle of the night potty demands. She is such a smart little thing, she has already picked out individual weakness to manipulate. We all love her so much.
We live in Augusta, GA and the breeder lives in the Charlotte, NC area. She let us get her at 7 weeks since we were returning from a family reunion at Myrtle Beach and it would be a 3 hr traveling detour instead of traveling 3 hrs each way the following weekend. I have never in my life been so excited to leave the beach. While my husband grumbled all the way there all was forgiven the minute he saw my face light up when we finally held her. He said I looked like a 3 year old who caught Santa coming down the chimney. As soon as she was placed in my arms the tears of joy started streaming down my face. She was a perfect angel for the 3 1/2 hour drive home (got stuck in carowinds traffic). Both my daughters and our next door neighbors were waiting in the driveway when we pulled up. Such a wonderful moment.
I work at a Veterinary clinic so she will be going to work with me on a daily basis. She had her 2nd welcoming commitee party when I went to work Monday. She already has a huge fan club. This is gonna be so much fun!
