Finally got some Greenies

I don't know how you feel about buying them from Ebay, but there are a lot of people that sell them in bulk for very low prices!!! I'm still debating wether or not I want to go through Ebay, but they do have some great prices. Definitely worth checking out if you can and are willing to go through Ebay.

We've been giving Apollo greenies for several months now. He used to get the petite size every other day (I know -- he's big enough for the larger ones). We had some of the regular size from Christmas and will switch over to those every other day when the latest bag of petites is finished. Now he's getting a petite every day. I've found that a bag of 24 (I think) is cheaper from my neighborhood pet store than from Drs. Foster & Smith. His teeth look pretty good, and I know it's not from brushing because we don't do that as regularly as we should. He loves his greenies!

I bought a jumbo one for Dukie and he polished it off in an afternoon.
It seems to me they are similar to Booda Velvets.
The other thing I get him is Gumma bones. The are good for teeth too.

Greenie's fan here too . Even though the mfg suggests Diego have the Large size, he usually gets the Regular about 1-2x/week. I think 16 of the reg size come in a package, and about 1/2 that in the next size. They are pricey and it's a "special" treat, just like the bully stix :p! I find the community, privately owned pet stores sell them in bulk, as well as in the package. They are a super BREATH BUSTER!!!!! ~ Lisa

just to let everyone know, you can buy a big 50 pack box of greenies for just a lil over a dollar each on petedge.com - they even come individually wrapped now. i've looked around, and this has definately been the cheapest place to buy them

Ive tried these before once.. I tried giving both my dogs a small one and Only haylee would eat it. So my other dog didnt seem to like it :confused: SO I decided not to really try em anymore since I usually give them equal amount of treats ect.. I still have a bag left of them somewhere. Im not sure why he wont eat them anyone else had this problem?

Oh yea I got mine from a small pet store. They gave them to me for free. Kinda like a sample type thing

I get Ava's at Petedge.com I order Jumbo's even thugh she is 63 lbs. Is this bad? She doesn't like the heads and the Jumbos take her longer to finish. Is this too much for her?:confused:

Petedge definantly has the cheapest price on greenies, we've check around The second cheapest is a horse store we found online, can't remember the url off the top of my head.

Jumbo's are fine to feed her. We feed jumbo's to Baxter because he tends to inhale things (and he does eat the head!). I have to be careful with the size of things I give him. I give them about once a week as a treat but even if you feed them more often, since she doesn't eat the head, she should be fine

On a side note, my vet will not allow patients who have kidney problems to have greenies because of the chlorophyll in them. I understand the manufacturer's response has come from a certified veterinarian but IMO, no advice takes the place of your veterinarian who knows your animal personally and his/her's condition in it's entirety.

Aimee, I completely agree with you. Baylee has bladder problems and my vet said not to give her any Greenies, because it contains Chloryphyll (sp). So, she doesn't get them, when I am giving Greenies to Brandy I have other bones for Baylee.

Funny that this thread was brought back up. During the Christmas holidays I have been on a search for good chews because Gazou is starting to be more aggressive and started destroying his soft plastic toys. I got him a "large" greenie which he polished off in 40 min... I looked for them in the bigger packages and ouch! They were very expensive the bag of 10-12 large (I can't remember exactly) was about 22$.
