Females/Males - Weight and Temperment

Are there significant differences between males and females? I have read lots of information in books, but would like to hear from people like you. Is it true that females are a little smaller and calmer?

Myles is 17 months and weighs about 85 lbs. and I have 2 friends that have females and their both full-grown and weigh about 50 lbs. each. So it's pretty safe to say that most females don't get as big as males.

Females in general tend to be smaller than the males but there is always the exception, a large female or a small male.

As for temperment, I find male dogs to be more laid back, and females to be more bossy. But personality is not really based on the sex of the dog, they are all individuals and slightly different.

I have found that my female Zoe is much smaller than my boy Harley was at his age. She's smaller boned than him I think...

As for females being calmer HA - she is a wild woman! Harley is calm and follows me where ever I go, he has to be at my feet constantly. Zoe on the other hand is all over the place, the only time she's calm is when she sleeping, & even then she's twitching & 'running' in her dreams!

My female is very independent and the boss in the house (of course, she's also the oldest).

My male is the snuggler and sticks to my side constantly. If I let them out, she'd be down the street, but he'd wait by the door.

Ofcourse, my female's not a Boxer, but that's my two cents anyway.

I had a 70 lb female protect me from my own boxer male at a bash last year. I think females are bossier and more protective. That is true in boxers too, I think.

Tyra is my first female and she really is "clingy" but "calmer." I don't think it is a gender difference as much as individual difference.
