Testicles! Has anyone else had this happen? The first time she did it I thought it might have just been an accident, but now it's happened probably four times to the point that they've started bleeding. She's almost a year old, he's almost three years old (boyfriend hasn't fixed him because he's considering breeding him...that and it's a male thing that I don't understand). It happens when they're playing--he'll have the tennis ball or whatever she wants to play with, she'll start to chase him, and now she's realized that if she goes for the testicles that he'll squat down as soon as she gets close. He doesn't get aggressive or anything, sometimes he'll yelp, but then he just continues to play with her. Regardless, I'm worried about what might happen if she really bites into them. How can I fix this situation? We watch them and if she gets close we stop her and tell her "NO!" but since they're playing I don't think she understands what part of her behavior is wrong.

I know the simple solution would be to get the dog fixed, but since he's not my dog I don't have that option (my female was fixed early in the summer). I've told my boyfriend all about the benefits of getting him fixed and all of the risks of not doing it, and he still won't commit to it.

Anyone else had this happen?

We had that problem when we first got Napoleon about 5 months ago.
With Sandy (3.5 yrs) it was a dominant thing. He was a little bigger than her and he was just 6 months. She would bite him there too. We sprayed a little bitter apple on him and she would leave him alone. Now she just bites him there if he tries to dominate her. Both of them have been fixed, that wasn't even an issue.

It's really unhealthy to keep a male dog intact if he's really just a pet. "Considering breeding" - geez - if that isn't the hallmark of the BYB. What experience does your BF have in showing and raising Boxers and determining whether or not his boy is conformation-wise good enough to pass on his DNA to the world Boxer pool? I think your Boxer girl is trying to send him a message about what he should do with those testicles. If your BF is really squeamish - one word - Neuticles. Check them out.
