Feeling the need...

maybe this is just a quirk of my dog angus but do any of your boxers feel the need to sit on everyone and everything. For example, if my wife or I am laying on the floor he will come over and literally sit on our heads or anything else he can. If our other boxer gunnie is chewing on a bone and angus wants it he will come over and sit on his head so he cant chew the bone anymore. Gunnie gives him this look like what in the heck do you think you are doing??? He will even sit on the cat if he sees it sitting on the floor. Its really pretty funny to see, it makes me laugh every time. I pretty sure its not a dominant thing, I think that he just likes to get as close to us as he can. It might have to do with him being deaf. Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone elses boxer feels the need to do this.:D

yeah, our boxer does that too, although not quite to the extent of yours. he will sit on anyone with no regards as to what part of you he sits on. he also sits on my mom's beagle when she is chewing on a bone so he can get it. i think he knows how to use his weight to his advantage.

Both my Boxers do that all the time, only not as much as yours seems to. My Pit always stares at them like they're crazy (which they are). haha. You have to love our babies.

Rocky boy loves doing that. He mostly only does it on my feet though. I've noticed it's when company comes over, he will say hello then come to me and sit on my feet almost as if saying "Hi nice to meet you, just letting you know she's mine, so please just go on"

Oh, yes. Roxie especially likes coming over and standing on you. If you are sitting on the couch or floor or bed or wherever. She will stand on you to lick you, but then just stand there and not do anything and not go anywhere! She's a pretty small boxer, but still heavy!!

If I'm sitting in the lounge chair Daisy will jump up and sit as far up on my chest as she can. Almost to the point of resting her but on my shoulders.

Rocky does this as well. While talking to our vet about it he said it could be just a thing he has or he said thats how dogs establish(sp?) dominance. But like i said he said it could also just be a thing he likes doing.

Oh yes, Mason will plop his big boxer butt anywhere and everywhere. It shocks some people as they are minding their business sitting on the couch, up jumps mason and pretty soon they have a 80lb boxer sitting nicely in their lap!

We have a rescue girl right now that will do the exact same thing. She went on a home visit and of course the ladies loved her to death, but their other dogs didn't like her as much as she liked them. One lady laid down in the floor while her sister was playing with Abby, Abby stopped playing and went over and just sat down on the other lady's side. She will do this to every rescue dog, she will play with them until they are worn out, when they lay down and she can't get them back up to play, she will just sit on them (anywhere on them) and lets out this long sigh. Then she starts to nibble on them trying to get them to play, mouth wrestle, anything at all. She will sit on their head if they have a toy or chewy that she wants, when they drop it, she is like lightening grabbing it up and off running trying to get them to chase her. She will take the toys and tease the other dogs into playing, if the teasing doesn't work she will try to push it in the other dogs mouth to get them to play tug.

Our 4 mth old boxer, Kyzer, does the same thing! He especially likes to sit on our Toy Fox Terrier, Jaxon, though. It's so funny to watch because he just comes up next to Jaxon like he's bumping him out of the way.

Kyzer also likes to just stand over Jaxon. He is tall enough now that Jaxon can stand underneath him. This is also a sight to see! Kyzer is standing up, and if you look at him from the back you can see Jaxon's head poking out between his back legs. It cracks me up everytime!
