I was thinking possibly biking w/ him? what do u guys think? anything else you guys do?

Biking, roller blading, hiking, frisbee, swimming, lazer light...

Kodi loves biking (although going up and down all the hills is killer for me)! I do not bike with Ruby any longer...she forgot she was attached to me 1 time too many and we crashed. I normally take all 3 dogs when we roller blade but leave all off leash (if we can't get to the tennis courts I'll take them one at a time on leash). Hiking and swimming I think is everyone's faves (human and dogs)...although at this time of the year, swimming is out for us.:( Frisbee playing is done as a one on one thing otherwise I throw it once and the dogs take over. Lazer light chasing is great at night when I don't feel like doing anything...I stand and they chase. :)

Kassa, We are feeding Canidae right now. You all in California are sooo lucky!!
Right now all the exercise my 3 Boxers are getting is jumping up onto the sofa. It is 2 degrees here right now, with a wind chill of -6. And we are in the middle of a huge ice storm. We lost power here for half a day, and many more in town still don't have power. I am soo scared, when I take Chaos (my 18 month old male show prospect) out side to potty that he is going to slip on that TPLO surgery leg.

I have two that I show.
My male is a constant problem to keep weight ON. He gets 6-8 cups kibble plus home cooking but is extremely active (and obnoxious)
My bitch is the porker, who gains too easily and often gets green beans added to her 2 cups kibble(or less) and home cooked.

For excersize and muscle tone(and to burn off their pent up energy), we walk hills daily and play "Fake" frisbee.

2 dogs, 2 humans and 3 frisbees. Since neither of us can catch or throw, we pretend to throw it and the person on the other end waves theirs around and the dogs run back and forth. Kinda like pickle in the middle. The third frisbee is for my male to carry cause he gets a bit wild when we play.
We also play pickle in the middle by bouncing a ball back and forth to each other. If alone, I bounce it off a wall.

They get their excersize and fun.
I've seen dogs get too muscled looking in the shoulders from using the treadmills (NOT all) and dogs that had good movement before they were treadmilled lose proper movement. I believe these dogs were not doing their workouts properly (inexpierienced owners) so I would be VERY careful before starting a dog on that regime.

Get out there and spend quality time with your dog- It'll do you both good.

   my 2 love frisbee too! its been a bit too muddy lately though, i don't want any slipping/twisting or anything of that nature. But it is one of their most favorite games

do u think this could happen even if we were careful about the amount of exercise he got? Whats a good amount to start off at? (on nice days we will jog/walk for about 2mi.) Another thing that worries me is exercising on hard surfaces. I've read its bad on the joints.. what do u guys think? (i know its hard on my knees.. )

I don't know much about using a treadmill as far as the incline, time and speed they should go at. Perhaps your handler could give you advise.

we don't have a treadmill, so it would be me, my running shoes and the good 'ole road for us! i don't know how much is a good amount of running to start w/, and what i should work up to. (which is also why i asked about training on hard surfaces.. if its too much on their joints) I was toying w/ biking Cash since i would be able to do a little bit more biking than i would running... though im sure the running is good for me. perhaps i will ask for tips from my handlers... their boys are definately well toned
