Same with Logan, he came home at 6 weeks and just 4lbs. And went through a refuse to eat phase a week later. After switching foods and letting him go hungry for two days when he threatened to become a seriously picky eater as I messed with the food encouraging him to eat, he started eating much better. Tomorrow he is 16 weeks and weighed 26lbs yesterday and is growing as much as an inch and 3lbs a week the last two weeks. And he looks thin. They will make you crazy.

Feeding high quality kibble, yet.......??

This is my first response. We have 5 boxers (9mths, 7mths, 5mths, 4mths, and 13wks) and we are feeding them Chicken Soup now after feeding them Pedigree Puppy and their stools are soft and stinky compared to their stools when they were eating Pedigree (stools were firm and didn't smell that bad). We were just wondering is their another good brand of puppy food out there that we could try to have their stools firm up?

Youngboxers: There are plenty of high quality alternatives to Chicken Soup. Canidae is one that springs to mind, which might suit you very well since it's an all-life-stages food and your dogs' ages vary so much.

There is some good information on how to choose a good quality food - what to look for, what to avoid, and why at www.boxerworld.com/feeding

But basically anything from the Whole Dog Journal's list of quality dry dog foods would be a good choice. You can find the current list and their selection criteria posted in this thread: http://boxerworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=66384&highlight=2005

PS: Please post an introduction to the rest of the community members in the introductions forum. Per the rules, that is supposed to be the very first post you make on BW, before participating elsewhere on the site.

I bought Blue Buffalo Lamb and Rice for the pup I'm picking up this Saturday (I picked lamb 'cuz its supposed to be a bit gentler). Unfortunately, I picked up the
30 #%$&* pound bag instead of the 15 pound one. So if you are feeling a bit chilly this coming winter, feel free to email me, I'm sure I can knit ya a nice sweater. ;)

Here is an update on the dry puppy food that we have been trying and the puppies love it and their stools are starting to firm up. We are so happy.

Hiya! Im feeding my 10 week old pup Royal Canin puppy kibble (one of the pricier local foods). It makes a huge difference in the stool - more regular and solid, as well as good breath!
