Boxer Insane
Many beautiful boxers should not be bred.
A friend has a stunningly gorgeous boxer from impeccable, health tested bloodlines that is neutered. She is not a professional breeder so he is a neutered pet for his health benefits.
Breeding is definitely more than picking two "great" looking boxers and producing a litter. It's also more than counting championships. This is often what backyard breeders do, breed their "good" looking dog with one with a few champions and they have a litter. Sometimes they get lucky, other times they begin producing a majority of boxers who don't match the standard or have health problems.
I have learned a lot on this site and links from the breeders on this site. I have picked up a lot of knowledge from working rescue and learning about the byb's - some we learn way too much about, and I learn at the dog shows. Sounds like you have many questions and are serious about the boxer breed. I am sure you will enjoy many of these links also.
I hope the above came across in a "friendly" way, so many times when you type info without a discussion it comes across very "telling" instead of conversational. The only way to learn is to come on here and discuss it.
But, I must add, vets are not judges and versed in the standards of all breeds, I would not take a vet's judging of a dog. I would definitely want to find out from a judge's standpoint after going to a few shows for a trustworthy opinion. I know two people locally who were told by their vet to breed their boxers! I am sure your's is very nice looking, but let me tell you these two people have the most awfully bred boxers! I was horrified that they were told to breed! Especially when the world we live in is overrun with pets. The one boxer could very, very well be a mix even!
Sounds like you have a excellent family member in this wonderful boxer. But I agree with all the earlier postings, it sounds like there are too many reasons not to breed this particular boxer. Maybe after you show a bit you will have interest in breeding in the future.

So what I understand is that your pup is not registered...meaning he doesnt have papers?? Why in the world would you breed a dog with no papers just to produce more unregisterable pups?? Theres no proof that un-papered pup is even pure bred (not saying yours isn't pure boxer) you might as well be selling mix breed pups if you are purposely breeding a dog with no papers. Please have your sweet boy fixed! Why oh why do people think it is soooo important to breed THEIR dogs no matter how wrong it may be??

I want to say this in as nice a way as possible...no respectable owner of a show winning dog will breed their dog to a bitch with no papers. I really hate to burst your bubble. You do have a beautiful boy with a very sweet face however, he came from a not very respectable breeder that unfortunately has led people on trying to sell pups. Backyard breeders will make up all kinds of stories to cover up what they're really in it for (be it money or whatever). Many people here on Boxerworld fell into the same trap as you and trust me their dogs are great pets. I'll say it once more, have your baby fixed and enjoy him for what he is...a great companion. Why is breeding so important to you anyway??

I am also very impressed. Cheers to you. I run into way too many people that get upset when I begin a similar discussion with them. You and your baby will be able to enjoy a bery long healthy life together. Breeding is really not important to a dog. For some reason it seems so important to some owners however. Your boy is beautiful by the way.

As a breeder of several Champion Boxers, I can honestly say I would never breed one of my boys to an unregistered bitch. There is no way to confirm they are a full bred Boxer and thusly breeding them would not be bettering the breed.
None of the puppies could be registered so where would my future show pups come from? So no, if the sire really is a "show winning dog", this would have been a total waste of a litter.
Who is the sire of your male? I can tell you at least if I have heard of him in case your breeder lied about him as well.
