I am still looking for a forever home for Ginger ( 1 1/2)whom I rescued 4 months ago. She had heartworms, has been treated and is now ready to go to her forever home. Ginger is not for everyone, she will need basic training, sit, stay, down, etc, she is very hyper as all boxers are but she is also very strong, she is all muscle and you would be amazed at how strong she is. She is only 50lbs but is soooo strong. I have tried placing her on petfinder but people whom respond never write back so I thought this would be the next best thing to try. I try and rescue one boxer at a time because I am a stay at home mother with five dogs of my own and a little one whom is 14months. Ginger is toy/food aggressive so she is not allowed around my dogs,we did the dog intro and she plays to rough and then starts a fight after 15 minutes so we have just kept her away from all of them. She does not like CATS,she will kill them if she gets ahold of one. She has just had a bad start in life, not abused such as hit or anything but from what the lady said I got her from she was outside in a run with a pitbull right next to her whom I guess she did play with at times,(male) but he seperated them for a reason and I am thinking because they fought? Its been four months now and its time for her to find a forever home, she is still working on crate training but is very stubborn, she is on Iams and loves to eat,she loves toys but will not go get them and bring them back, she jumps up on you all the time so I have to carry and glass cup around with me with rocks in it and shake when she trys to jump it scares her so she doesn't jump( Trainer told me to do that and it works). She will be a great companion for someone whom has time for her,you have to have time or it was a wasted effort because she needs time, patience, love and a forever home. She does like children but like I stated she jumps and would knock them over or scratch them from jumping. I live in Indianapolis Indiana and would be willing to drive if I find the right home. Thanks so much for listening Amber

Ginger

I called Central Indiana Boxer Rescue when I received Ginger because I could not afford myself to pay for her heartworm treatment but would never turn any dog away. One person was going on vacation, couldn't help me out basically and ALL LISTED PEOPLE for the rescue NEVER returned my URGENT call-I left messages and stated how urgent she needed to be treated because we had no clue how long she had the heartworms so it was very urgent that I find someone to take her and get her treated so anyways I placed an ad in my local paper stating she needed heartworm treatment and a heaven sent lady called, was willing to help her out and adopt her afterwards but the dog intro did not go well at all so thats why shes still here with me and I will never ask for there help ever again, I plan on in the future opening my own boxer rescue, I know its a hard job but where were they when I needed them MOST???? If theres a will theres a way and I found that out to be true, god is looking after me and helping me do what I am meant to be doing, helping out animals. Thanks Amber

Boxer Pal
Looking in Indiana

I have been unactively looking for a Boxer playmate for my kids and Buster my resucued Boxer. I am a stay at home mom so I have plenty of time to train. I live in NW Indiana. I tried a rescue place and they said that I have to have a fence even though I live on 10 acres. I don't have the money for a fence around the entire thing. Please contact me about her. I am willing to give of myself. Already have to watch Buster grow.

I am very surprised to hear that the rescue didn't respond to you. A friend of mine volunteers for the rotti rescue in New England & they respond almost immediately to a call to pick up a dog. Maybe you could try them again and explain to them that the dogs best interest is all you are looking out for and would really like to find her a suitable home. I know the rescues are all very busy volunteers and maybe this was a terrible mistake that they didn't get back to you. Are there any other boxer rescue organizations in your area you can try? There are three here in my area which is why I ask. Good luck. BTW, how is Ginger?

Ginger

Hello..I have placed an ad in the Indianapolis Star for her and have received several calls, atleast 50 plus some and thats being in the paper for a week tomorrow but alot of them have children under 6 or another dog. I have had two people come meet with her and the first guy I could tell was a BIG NO!! because she would not stop jumping(which I tell EVERYONE when they call she is a jumper all the time) so he had to expect it but said I don't think I am going to take her, I said thats fine I don't want her to go where she will not be wanted and another couple came today and looked at her and the guy said he trained dogs but has never seen a boxer has hyper as Ginger,I am thinking he needs to get out more, lol ..... so they said they had two more dogs to go look at and would call if they wanted her,no call back as of tonight. I am very picky about whom she goes to and I am very honest about my feelings as in no she wouldn't be good for your family or yes it could work out. I just don't want someone to take her and end up taking her to the shelter because they couldn't put up with her jumping because they didn't take her to classes like I suggested. I am not going to have any rescue take her off my hands, I have had her for four months and we have bonded, her next home should be her forever home, if I didn't have my five dogs and could work with her she would stay here with me but my husband says five is the limit and we can't be switching dogs in and out everyday forever. I just think she has been here long enough, shes been through her heartworm treatment and has had time to adjust so I think its time for her to find her forever family, it might take me awhile but I will find that family for her. And in response to Lisar, Ginger HAS to have a fence, I know you said the rescues all want you to have a fence and the reason for that is boxers are runners,no matter if you have 1-10 acres they can run away and never look back and Ginger would. You could fence in SOME,not all. I know how expensive fencing is, we bought the fencing and did it ourselves to save money but man its alot of work and time. OK I am done rambling now but if you here of someone whom might be Gingers family let me know. As far as I know CIBR is the only boxer rescue I came across near me, I go to the dog shows and they are the only ones there.

Ginger still needs a forever home

Hello everyone.. Ginger is still looking for her forever home, it seems everyone who called wanted an already trained boxer, thats house-training and basic training, are they crazy??? They want me to do all the work for them so I guess they wouldn't have to bother. I had two people come look at her and the second trained dogs as I stated last time and he was supposed to go look at two others, younger than Ginger and get back to me,of course no call so he must have fallen for a puppy,or the wife did. I am trying my best to work with her but she is a very stubborn girl who wants to play all the time and yes I go outside and play to get some energy gone but she still is so strong and stubborn. My husband calls her Miss Spazoid, lol If your looking for a challenge and a great forever friend Ginger is the one for you, please keep an eye out for anyone near me or someone willing to travel would be fine too. Thanks everyone for thinking of her. Amber
