Is there a food I can feed my boxer, Apollo, to help me bare the amplitude and the frequency of his farts? Here currently eats an all natural premimum dog chow and I was wondering if there was some type of human food I could give him to help this problem and if it was ok to mix the human food with the chow?

Hi -
use plain yogurt in his food. I'm not exactly sure on the amount - maybe a tablespoon every day. Do a search on gas and you'll come up with tons of posts for remedies.

What is "all natural premium dog chow"? Is that the brand of food? If so, that could very well be your problem! Dog chow is one of the lowest quality junk foods on the market, and is likely not agreeing with his system.

www.boxerworld.com/feeding has some great information on what to look for (and what ingredients to avoid) in dry dog food. A search on "quality dog food" will also yield many results.

I just started Wil and Em on yogurt last night. Does it matter morning vs. evening meal? The tooting was less this morning...could have just been my imagination.

Lola get one tablespoon per day of yogurt (non fat, plain) with her morning meal. It's worked wonders for our noses!

Thank you for your concern, but I already did that search on the best chows out there (especially on BoxerWorld) and found the one that fits the guidelines to a "T" if not better. I do not feed my dog crap, he deserves better. However thank you for the posts on the yogurt that smells like a good idea, thanks again.

OK - so you are referring to "chow" in the general sense then? There is a brand of food called Dog Chow (which is junk). If you name the brand you are feeding in the future, it may enable others to help you more

Along the same lines, there is no food out there that suits every single dog. If yours has really bad gas, it's likely that what you are feeding him does not agree with his system. Some gas is normal, but a excessive gas is not normal, and is a sign that you may need to switch (to another "chow")
