False Pregnancy??

Our boxer sweetie Jazzy appears to be pregnant, however that is impossible. Our other dogs are both females as well. The only time they go outside is when are supervising them (play and potty time). So we know for a fact that a male dog hasn't been near her at all.

What I mean by appears to be pregnant is that her nipples are enlarged, she has gained weight, and is more serious rather than her usual self.

This may sound nuts (don't be afraid to tell me if it does, lol), I have a theory about this. Jazzy will be 1 year old April 1st. She started her first heat the very same day we brought Destiny home. That was the 18th of January. Destiny was 8 weeks old at the time. Her nipples became enlarged during her heat cycle. I am just wondering if the possible false pregnancy happened because of the baby boxer? She does mother her alot. She cleans her, sleeps with her, plays with her, and corrects her at times.

She is eating great, sleeping well, and still plays. Any advice or pointers would be awesome!

Thankyou :o)

Bitches go through a false pregnancy every heat cycle (unless, of course, they're actually pregnant), to varying degrees. It may be that the new puppy increased the symptoms she's displaying. Some bitches go so far as to produce milk, and 'whelp' an imaginary litter.

LOL, houseslippers! We didn't even know that a false preganacy exsisted until I searched the net. But what I didn't know was that all go through it after their heat to varying degrees. I can't tell you how much better we feel. We were thinking "immaculant conception" or something crazy like that, lol.......
Thankyou SO much for letting us know. Hopefully it will go away soon enough.

Our boxer, Heidi, went thru a false pregnancy. She got milk, nested in the clostet and even appeared like she was in labor. From there she took any toy of my kid's and would bring them into the closet and nurse them. She even took the answering machine off the dresser because it made noise. I mean she had baby dolls, power rangers, robots, anything and everything. Eventually, she calmed down and over the course of a few weeks, she settled on one baby doll and would carry her everywhere. We knew the false pregnancy was over when her "baby" started to become her play toy and she started tearing the stuffing out of it. It was very stressful though and if your girl is going thru one the vet told me the best thing to do is just let it take its course and it will subside. It did for us and Heidi is fine now.

I feel bad for what your poor Heidi went though but I couldn't stop laughing while reading your post. Sorry but I pictured her trying to nurse the answering machine, power rangers, and robots. Poor girl...
