I recently had a Fellow BW watch Dozer when we went back home to the States for Christmas... She happened to get her Dog from the same "Breeder" As I did, Her baby's face is what I have typically seen in Boxers Pushed back Muzzel and a bit of an under bite! (VERY CUTE)

I never noticed before I saw Dozer standing with her babe that he doesn't look like that! His nose is longer and his teeth are perfectly aligned (no under bite) He is still very cute and I think that he is perfect!

But I still wonder does the standard of Boxer differ from country to country? We got him from Poland? Other than those 2 things he is boxer all the way...

Do any of you think that he may have been mixed with something else? I still love him just the same But I have heard that in the U.S now you can get DNA tests done on dog's to make sure that they are purebred! This so called breeder asured us that he was purebred but we didn't get paper's as we are not planning on breeding him or showing or anything like that.

Well, he may or may not be purebred. The boxer head is a man-made creation - if left to nature, all breeds would have longish muzzles and scissor bites. But humans 'created' the boxer, breeding for a short, undershot muzzle to assist with holding prey. The point of that is that breeders have to be very vigilent with their breeding practices to retain the boxer head as it is supposed to be (short and undershot) - if they don't, then nature will revert the head to a longer narrower muzzle. So alongside the possibility of being a mixed breed, poor breeding practices could be the answer in Dozer's brother's case.

I note they came from Poland. I don't mean to be rude, but why? LOL - you're stationed in Germany, home of the boxer breed and arguably where you can get the 'best' boxers in the world, and they also have extremely stringent health and temperament requirements for breeding stock - yet you bought a puppy from Poland? I'm afraid to say that it is likely he came from a puppy mill. The puppy mill problem in countries like Poland and Hungary is so large that some Western European countries have actually legislated against bringing pups in from those countries. I thought Germany was one of them...

To be honest...

I wasn't really aware of the problem of the puppy millers from poland until it was to late! I tried to call about this gentleman after I realized that his shot records were incomplete he had worms and then he developed demodex mange... This man still advertises in the Stars and Stripes which is a Military newspaper.

Unfortunatley a lot of the germans in this area do NOT sell or adopt out puppies to the american soldiers or their familes because more often than not the dogs get left behind when the family moves and they either become stray or get picked up by another military family and so that cycle continues! You can't even be a shelter home here if you are military affiliated! You can not adopt from a shelter even, which I can understand because the shelters just end up getting the dog's back when the family move's again, so what is the point, right? They have become really strict and I can't blame them. Hence the reason we didn't get a Boxer from Germany...

I am not sure about the Regulations of the dog's being transported into the country But I didn't go to poland to get him. The gentleman Met my husband half way Between them and us. At the time the man seemed interested in keeping in contact and kept kissing dozer and acting like he really didn't want to let him go so my husband asuumed that he was on the up and up and sincerely cared for these dogs!

We were also told that he had his first shots and had been wormed also that he was 8 week's old and since the "records" were written in Polish we sure didn't undertand them and only found out that they weren't right when we took him to a german vet!

I wouldn't trade him now for anything but I do discourage other military families that I know not to do business with this gentleman...

Legally there we were told there really wasn't anything we could do about it As we tried to report him to the Polzei but they said that since he is from poland it is out of their jurisdiction!

It is sad I know and I was Very angry for a long time... But Dozer is my baby and I don't care where he came from at this point... I just wish I wouldn't have given that guy any money to fund whatever type of operationhe is running

You and me both. I'm just glad we've both learned something about this "breeder" and can warn people about him. People always ask me where I got Peanut and I tell them and then add but I wouldn't get a dog from him again at all then explain the reasons why.
Oh and I agree with the reasons on why I also didn't get a German dog. In fact I contacted 7 boxer breeders (here in Germany) and once all 7 of them found out I was an American they all told me that they wouldn't sell one of their puppies to me.
Oh and I personally think Dozer is a cutie patootie even if his nose is longer then Peanuts.
